Recommend, with Modifications
Here is another go at these. I think I'm happy with the fit now. They are still a little loose but that is how I like to wear my shorts. They are also out of the same fabric as the last pair because I liked the idea of those but not the fit. I took about a half inch of volume out of the back of

Another update/edit.
I decided this was my best fitting pants pattern. They had the exact crotch curve and waist height as a good-fitting pair of RTW when I did the press-n-seal method of pattern comparison. It was easy to lengthen the legs to make pants rather than shorts.
