I literally JUST got done making my son a pair of boxer shorts out of some ugly fabric that my mother-in-law gave me! Sadly, she gave me so much that I could probably make enough for all the men on my block. I don't know if I can stand to look at it that long! ------ There's no such thing as too much fabric.

One summer that I spent teaching in Hainan, China, we teachers had skirts and dresses made in a kind of "tailor's row" in the market. We purchased our fabrics sold in stalls, then the tailors measured us and discussed (with a lot of arguing and gesturing) the design we wanted. My skirt was a pleated navy blue floral; the waist facing was an odd, ugly brown patterned cotton. One of my students there gave me a length of a heavy cotton batik which she thought I could use as curtains. Not really my style. I finally used the wrong side of it to make a wrap skirt--still a work in progress. Even inside out, it's a bit funky for me.

I'm planning on making it into some pajama bottoms in the "Nick and Nora" style. My first reaction was "Hey - that's not ugly, it's cute!" hehehe. Last summer, I made a cute (or at least I thought so) nightshirt. hehehe. You may have seen pigs as a recurrent theme in the boxers. One of the unpictured pairs of boxers is made out of a patchwork of three piggy fabrics. ( they were in the wash..or perhaps being worn when I took the photos) That bacon and egg fabric is so soft.
