Hello,

I have come across an advertisement for a Columbia Industrial sewing machine for $150, I am interested the only problem is there is no photo and I have never heard of this brand, nor can I find anything on the internet about the brand or complany? Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you
Bell:-)

You might try looking up Jado Sewing Machine Inc. I think they made a Columbia blindstitch machine.

Klynne2,

Wow I would love a blindstitch machine at that price.

Have you any knowledge of the brand, I would love a industrial machine but am a little suspicious of the price and brand. I have no idea about industrial machines or what I should ask the seller.

I looked up jado on the internet but they had nothing on the columbia

Thank you for you quick response
Bell:-)

I really know nothing about Jado but they list Columbia blindstitch machines. I think the company manufacturer's, customizes and sells machines.
A1 Sewing machine Specialists might be able to answer your questions in regards to a Columbia industrial. There site came up when I did a search.
Sew4less also lists Columbia as a brand for parts but nothing comes up when clicking on the name.
Good luck in your search,

Hi belloo,
Very old straight sewer sold in Australia by Capron Carter and from memory was produced by Union Special in the states. Union machines were traditionally looper technology and as far as I know columbia was about there only foray into lockstitch machines. I doubt if parts would be available anywhere for them ,the last working one I saw was at Eumundi ,Qld in the 80's. Cheers Ron.

Columbia is made by union special

Edit to add.
I bought one at auction last year, it came from a uniform
factory that was moving. They had quite a few there.
We had to purchase a new motor because it was set up for a different type of electrical situation than is available in the home. I used it some but decided that I like my brother more and I am not in need of that much speed!
So My dh gave it away!!

I have had one for about 30 years and have never had any trouble with it. I would try it out and if it appears to sew good then I would go for it
