I remember not too long ago someone mentioning that this fantastic folding cardboard cutting table mentioned in FFRP is no longer being carried by the people mentioned in the book. Does anyone know where you can order one from? I am currently en route to my new home in Jacksonville FL, stopping here in CT to visit with family and friends for a few weeks, but I would love to be able to order one and have it waiting for me when i get there. Any ideas?

I know Cynthia Guffey uses them for her classes in Baton Rouge. You might email Sherryl at Cynthia's website. I know the name and address of the manufacturer is on them and maybe even an 800 number.

Unfortunately, the cardboard cutting surface at Hancock's isn't really a table -- it's just a gridded sheet of cardboard that lies on top of your table. I have one, but I never use it.

And the Sew/Fit cardboard cutting table is no longer being manufactured by the Sew/Fit company and is not available for sale. This is a shame because I used one while I was taking sewing lessons at my dealers, and it was lightweight, easy to assemble and completely sturdy.

I think the best inexpensive alternatives are the folding cutting tables from Hancock's, Joann or Nancy's Notions. These white laminated tables are approximately 35" high and measure 36" by 59.5" when open and 36" by 13" when closed. They're now on sale for $99 at Nancy's Notions, $69 at Hancock's and $59 at Joann. I'm planning to buy one at Joann this weekend because I have a 10% off coupon that will bring the price down to about $54.

I was hunting down this cardboard folding table last year. The person I spoke with at the company who used to make/sell it told me that my best bet was at a store in Australia. I've now forgotten the name.

I'm sad to see they are no longer being made. I have one that is about 10 years old and it's starting to bow and sway. I was hoping to replace it someday. By the way, I'm tall--about 6 foot and I use the one that is about 40" tall--much better than the standard less than 36". Does anyone know if the folding tables come taller than that?

I had one of the Sew Fit tables and used it for many years and was very disappointed to find out that I could no longer replace it.

Now I use 2 banquet style tables from Staples, Office Depot, etc. I use PVC pipe and had it cut in appropriate lengths to put on the legs. No more bending...

My copy of Australian Stitches arrived today. The table is advertised in the mag! It looks exactly the same as the one in FFRP.

It is available from:

Baraque School of Sewing and Style
77G Roland Avenue
Wahroonga NSW 2076
Australia

Phone + 2-9487-1177

Email baraque ATSIGN iprimus.com.au

(replace ATSIGN with the obvious - don't want to advertise them to spammers)

Price is AU$99 or NZ$120. They don't give a price in US$.

Dimensions are W 150cm, D 80cm, H 88cm.

HTH!

Current exchange rates are about AU$1=$0.82US, so AU$99 = about $82.

Shipping will probably add a bit. Juliette, do they give a shipping rate?

Thanks,

Jen

Seems like someone was selling them at the Dallas ETA this past Feb. Was it Emma Seabrook? I can't find any info, but that sure does ring a bell.
