I want to thank everyone for answering my questions (newbie questions ) Now I have another one. Does anyone know of a website or if there is link on PR that lists where sewing expos are going to be held? I swear since I found PR, I am really exicted (probably over-excited). I am almost finished with my first dress...and to be honest, it doesn't look too bad for a beginner. I hope do a review and get some comments from the "critial eyes"

The ''Original Sewing and Quilting Expo'' has a web site where they list the upcoming shows and locations for the next year. You can also get on their mailing list. I've attended the one in my area for 4 years and find it very worthwhile! The classes are great!

Hi ibbizy

The Expo for Georgia is coming in March. The first weekend I think. I'm planning on going.

You could also check in to joining the American Sewing Guild and see if there is a neighborhood group you could join near you. I've all ready "saved" the $40 fee just in my 10% off at Hancocks and JoAnns. Never mind any other benefits. The ASG also has classes and such scheduled throughout the year.

BTW where are you in Georgia?? If you don't mind me asking.

Hi ibbizy,

If you are interested in traveling all the way across the country, you might want to check SewExpo 2008. I have gone the last two years, and felt it well worth the time and expense. (I live in Oregon, though.) Most of the classes, cheap at $2 each, were good, even if most of the presenters were also vendors and had products to sell. And aisle after aisle after aisle of marvelous, yummy fabrics, trims, patterns etc. were all too tempting!

I can't speak for any other expo, since this is the only one I have been to. But the energy and inspiration were awesome! It would probably be worth your time just to find out what is new and exciting in the vast world of sewing.

Regards,

Sophiecat

Click on the link I gave you earlier in this topic. This is the home site for the company that puts on Expos all over the country year round.

Hallo, Just checking on Sewing Expo posts and see you have been to Puyallup?
I am in the UK and am planning to come solo next Feb. I am 66 yo and not too fit!
Did you stay over for the Expo? I am trying to find out what is available in order to make best use of finance and time etc. Last years brochure gives list of acommodation but, of course, I dont really kn ow anything about any of them I'm afraid not having been to US before.
I know the travel agent can sort it for me but it would be so nice to get first hand knowledge as it were!
All the best Winifred

Winifred,
You will enjoy Sew Expo in Puyallup.
I live about 1.5 hours away but stay in a motel down there for 2-4 nights depending on what hands on classes I might take.

Some of the places like the Best Western are probably booked already. The Extended Stay in Puyallup is good too but the mattresses are hard. I bring a foam mattress pad when I stay there.

Stay in Puyallup if you can. You may still need a car to get to the fairgrounds. Free parking.
