After the New Year, we will be moving to Peoria, Illinois. My husband will be in his new position by the end of January and we will following soon thereafter.

So I'm wondering if anybody on PR lives in that area? Are there any sewing groups or good classes?

Thanks!

Hi Kellie,
I don't really live close to Peoria but I'm kinda in the area. We live in Edwards, Missouri but just moved out here in August from Center Point, Indiana. I love fabric too and have the proof in my spare closet! The first thing you have to do is find the quilt shops and Joann's Fabrics closest to your new home. There isn't much too close to me and I kinda went thru withdrawal at first but am dealing with it! Have a good move and hope to hear from you!

There is a chapter of The American Sewing Guild in Peoria...check out asg.org

Also, almost every month, (first Saturday at 10 a.m.) in Chicago...(when you are visiting and having fun) the Haute Couture Club of Chicago meets. Not in summer and not in January. Meets on the 8th floor of the Harold Washington Library in The Loop (downtown)...Van Buren/State Street.

Thanks so much!

I'll check out the Sewing Guild. It would be a lot of fun and interesting to share my hobby with others.

Also, I'm in the far western suburban fringe of Chicago now. I dont venture downtown much these days, however, I'm sure to visit here periodically so you never know!

Thanks!

Not much help now, but 20 years ago I/we used to live in nearby Bloomington-Normal, so I know a bit about the area. My kids' grandparents, aunts, etc. still live there, so if there's anything you need to know, I might be able to find out. Hmm... lol, I'm sure that doesn't help AT ALL!
Anyway, hope your move goes smoothly! :)

I'm north of Peoria about 40 miles. Grew up south of Peoria about 30 miles. Lived in Peoria about 4 years in the late 1970s. I probably get to Peoria about once a month. Will you actually be living IN Peoria? There's a daytime ASG neighborhood group, but no longer an evening group.

Just wondering, have you made your move yet/are you settling in OK?

Hi jsjs!

We actually went to Peoria on Saturday, put in an offer on a home on Sunday and negotiated and got it yesterday!!!

We close on March 24, the Monday of Spring Break!

The last several days have been manic with all of the paperwork, particularly since my husband is travelling this week.

I'm very excited - thanks for asking!

Hopefully I'll have some sewing friends there !
