I'm not sure what forum this would fit in ... my apologies if it doesn't fit here! I went to the zappos.com shoe website discussed in the "shoeaholic support group" thread in Miscellaneous. I was surprised to find these Andre Assous espadrilles BECAUSE I HAVE THIS RIBBON! (Yes, I'm shouting! ) I also have ribbon that was made into espadrilles that were sold by Isabella Bird catalog last year. These ribbons can still be found at some Joann's stores (not all, I've seen them at only a few in my area).

So ..... does anyone know of a source of espadrille "bottoms"?

I'm looking for the bottom part so I could just sew on the ribbon and make these exact shoes. A looooooong Google search I did one night turned up nothing, and usually Google finds EVERYTHING. I did find lessons to make espadrilles, taught in Spain ... hmmmm. Maybe vacation?

Hi Debtro maybe you can contact the espadrilles maker in Spain about your espadrille sole question.
I do not know if you also found this google site espadrillesetc.com

If you can't find a source for the soles, how about going to a cheap shoe outlet, buying a pair with the appropriate sole and taking them apart?  Kind of a last gasp idea, but worth a thought.

Els thanks for the link ... cute sandals. I'm really surprised its so hard to find espadrille soles only because you'd think these would be so easy to sew your own uppers on them. Although, maybe that's the point ... it might be too easy so why buy them.

Well I found this for anyone in Connecticut:
A class on making espadrilles in late March in Brookfield (?) .

Kathi, I just might do that! Although I found that Andre Assous pair at Marshall Field's this week and I was so tempted to bring them home with me ... but I just can't ... what would I do with my ribbon then!

Wow, thanks for the link, Maria, that's a really good deal on the espadrilles. It might also be possible to remove the suede upper because that stitching looks easy to undo. And then, wa-la, stitch on the ribbon!
