Acme Dressform Adjustment Sequence
Which Dressform Screws Do I Adjust First, Second, etc.?

Have acquired what I believe is a vintage Acme adjustable dress form which is adjusted from the inside using wing nuts on sliding screws. There are many sections to adjust in the upper body. My question is this: Am I supposed to start any particular place on the form? For example, top to bottom?--adjust the waist, then move up?-- or from bottom to top? My problem is that when I get one measurement accurate and move on to another section or 2, then the first adjustment shifts due to the subsequent adjustments. Haven't been able to use the dress form due to this shifting. Does anyone have a manual or knowledge of how to work this form?

I have also acquired what I think is a vintage Acme dress form and am having the same adjustment problems you did. Did you find out how to make the adjustments?

Did you ever get an answer to this post? I just acquired an old Acme dress form too. I bought it at a yard sale where the grandmom of the family told me all about the dresses she had made on it; her daughter's school clothes, her daughter's wedding dresss; grandchildren's clothing, etc., etc. Stupid me didn't ask her how to adjust it. I'm trying now but not sure if I have everything unscrewed. It seems to be "fighting" me as I make the adjustments. I need to drop the waist a bit and it goes down but will spring up a bit from the adjustment I need. Help!
