I found this sewing machine lying around the garage. It looks like it can embroider as well since it has all different stitches shown on the machine. I also found a hoop for it too.

I can't test it out because the pedal seems to be missing. Also, it seems to be an air control pedal.

Can anyone give me info?? Is it worth getting it serviced?

I personally own a Singer 6268 in my collection of 16 machines and still sew on it. Cassettes for the embroidery hoop are sometimes available on Ebay.

Try the singer website www.singerco.com. You can email them about the machine. There is a singer dealer in Sydney that you can contact. The info is on the website under singer global. For all I know, he could have an inventory of parts and accessories or be able to tell you if he can get a foot pedal for it.

The machine is no longer made. Depending on the condition of it, it might be worth getting it checked out.

I know there have been many complaints about the machine over the years on many sewing boards, but mine has always worked well and still does.

Good luck--Priscilla

I used to have a 6268. I bought it new, and used it for a long time. It started playing up, and then had to be serviced/repaired twice within a couple of months. And then it died completely. When I bought it I thought it was a mechanical machine, but it actually does have some electronics in it, and that was what died on mine. A replacement motherboard was going to be more than I really wanted to spend on it, and while I was deciding what to do one of my dogs chomped through the air-line from the foot controller, adding to the repair bill. So I sold it for parts on eBay.

While it was working it was a fine machine. I'd recommend getting someone to look at it and give you a quote on what work it needs before you splash out on a new foot-control.

regards,
Vireya

Thanks for the replies guys. I think the sewing machine has a motherboard or something. I forgot where I read it from.

I think my local sewing store is selling one for $100USD.

Just notice it does keyhole buttonholes. I'm tempted to have it serviced now...
