Hi everyone,
I have a friend who is just beginning her treatment for breast cancer, and she was told she will lose her hair in about 2 weeks. She's totally freaked and doesn't know where to get head coverings. I remember that there is a pattern for a head covering because years ago I taught a kid's class and we made these things. I don't know where to find the pattern now. Can anybody help?
Thank you
Taylormade

I made some chemo caps for someone from this pattern
I and others did reviews. The ones I made were very easy.

Hope your friend does well and has a full recovery.

I found that just a square of fabric tied nicely as a scarf worked well when I lost my hair due to chemo. And the best thing about that is I could have them in all colors to match an outfit. I also made a few hats with the Kwik Sew 2935. It was comfortable, stayed on and had a small brim. Once you lose your hair completely, sometimes a scarf doesn't stay on too well because your scalp is slippery. And those liners you can put on to help a scarf stay put is just too much when it's hot out. Another thing I really liked is tops with hoods! And hoods are in right now too.

Thanks so much. I appreciate the quick response. My friend will be so thrilled...she is a minister and has some sermons that she wants to give and didn't know how she would manage, but I think one of those styles should work!

We are all praying for her full recovery!

Hi Sue,
I didn't know you had gone through this experience yourself, so thank you for sharing what worked for you. I'll order that Quick Sew pattern just so that we will have lots of choices! I have been wracking my brain to think of something I could do to help her, and am so fortunate that I can sew and do this as she is quite at odds over the thought of losing her hair (which is so strange after having lost one breast, you'd think nothing else would throw you!)

So thanks again, and I hope all is well with you now!

I have seen some great vintage patterns on ebay, like this Halston turban (ending today).

Don't know if this would be practical for you, but vintage patterns would definitely provide some style options, if she is particular about her apparel. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but I'm certain that she will overcome her illness.

If you can get your hands on this old Vogue 1294,, the red one makes a very flattering chemo cap. It is the only one in the package i have worked with, but i think the others look very promising, too.

I have finally found a FREE pattern/tutorial and it really looks like it is easy to follow it.

I hope this will help someone like myself
