I've just bought a disc of Haslam Dresscutting patterns circa 1930-50s. I've never heard of it before but it looks intriguing. Supposedly you're supposed to be able to easily draft these patterns into your size. I don't believe it's like Lutterloh though. Has anyone heard of or seen these before?

I just purchased this system a few weeks ago. How is it working for you? Would love to hear your thoughts, tips, advice, etc.

I have been looking at those on ebay -- the books and the CDs. Out of my budget at the moment though.

It did seem very usable if you're any good at drafting. I would love to know how it goes for you!

It's been sitting on my shelf. I should try it out this summer. Will let you know if I make any progress.

Just did a search to see if any PR members had had any experience using Haslam vintage patterns - produced by the Haslam sisters in Bolton UK during the 30s to 50s as part of their dressmaking school. Booklets are now out of copyright and I notice some years back a couple of members posted here re CD's etc. They seem now to be available in limited reproductions of the original in booklet and PDF versions on both Etsy and Ebay. The originals sell for quite high prices on Ebay. I had heard of them some years ago and just recently renewed my search for them as I am making 30s era costumes for my niece's school musical. Am absolutely loving the styles and the beautifully drafted patterns. The beauty is you can draft them to fit the individual figure. You do have to have the instructions for the foundation patterns from which the styles are drafted as well as the 'ruler' for the system - I found these very affordable as pdf downloads and made my own ruler up with oaktag, peltex backing and then laminated them prior to using my awl to make the holes for marking out.

Do you have a web address where one can get the pdf? Thanks

Just do a search on the Etsy site for Haslam dresscutting patterns and you should be able to find the PDF sellers. Sometimes you also need to select Haslam from their range of vintage pattern items to narrow down the selection. Hope that helps.
