Hello... I travel to Surrey, British Columbia often and I am wondering if any one here is from the area. My base is actually in the Cloverdale/Langley area.

I am looking for stores that I might be able to find Melton Wool for making coats. I'd appreciate any help ... names of stores or shops.

Or.. is there any one that knows of a good source where I could purchase wool on line. This wool would be for making winter coats.. not suiting.

Thank You
Jules

The closest I know about is Fabricana in Coquitlam which is a great fabric store.

Gorgeous Fabrics has a nice selection of coating fabric. I made my daughter a coat out of the Yo, Barbie! Flannel that turned out very well. But, the fabric seemed more like a melton than a flannel to me, so if you can wait, you might want to order swatches first to make sure it's exactly what you want. Kim

MacPhee Workshop in Edmonton has Wool coat fabrics. I realize Edmonton is not near Surrey, but she does do mail order and is in Canada.

KocharTex manufactures wool Melton fabric.. It is a thicker woolen fabric and type of twill fabric that has diagonal lines or ridges on both sides, made with a two-up, two-down weave generally made in solids. Due to its thickness, it is used for trench coats, suits and military uniforms. Wool Melton fabric is also used for Blazers, jackets, coats and blankets. Chk at Kochartex..
