I don't knit, but if anyone has a little girl in their life who loves the movie or book Corlaline, there is a pattern on the Coraline.com site for it. :)
There is also a video about the woman who handmade the knit sweaters for the stop motion puppets used in the film..totally remarkable work. She is a minaturist knitter and shows some of her smaller, intricate works too.
To see the video, go to the main site, use the map tab to find Coralines room in the house and then open the top drawer in her dresser. The second drawer below it has the pattern download. Warning..this site is great fun, but VERY bandwidth intensive so you really need cable or dsl to make the most of it. For those who don't have this luxury, here is a direct link to the sweater pattern.

And if you're asking youself..what the heck is Coraline? GO SEE IT at the threater and be prepared to be amazed and litle creeped out. :)

I saw the video of the woman making those miniature sweaters and it took a few times through to really realize just how tiny these things are. She's got some gorgeous creations that you'd never guess were doll size, they're so perfect and intricate. I think she had one with an ocean motif and you could make out the kelp, fish, dolphins, starfish... utterly amazing. I'm tempted to pull out some pins and thread and try it just to see how crazy it is to work that tiny.

ETA: here's her website

I was just going through some old threads looking for something, and bumped into this one. Wow, what a fascinating site you linked to, KitnRose! Those are some incredible miniatures.

Thanks Anne for bringing up this post! I loved seeing this movie, and saw an exhibit of the props at The Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, with the tiny sweaters, too.
