Is there a way to alter a polo shirt pattern to have princess seams?

Does anyone know of a polo shirt pattern with princess seams? If not, do you know how to alter one to accomodate princess seams?

I am an avid golfer and love golf clothes. The hippest golf shirts are those with princess seams and cording along those seams. However, I cannot find a polo shirt pattern with princess seams at all - not on any of the pattern sites; eBay or vintage sites.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Monica,

Is there a pattern you already have in mind? If so, where are the darts currently located?

I had the Kwik-Sew polo shirt pattern, but I ended up trashing it. I hated the arms amd the finishing for the neckline and arms.

Oh and there are no darts in that pattern, nor does it appear that the ones I have on order have them either.....Burda 7941 and Jalie polo pattern.

Oy. I just learned how to convert something with darts to princess seams. But, without darts, sadly, I don't know

Have you tried or looked at the Jalie pattern? It is more fitted and could incorporate darts or at the minimum, contouring.

Why don't you come at it from the other direction, and add a placket and polo shirt collar to a knit shirt pattern with princess seams? I've done this before with a raglan sleeve T-shirt to golf shirt. As I recall, it wasn't that hard. You already have a golf shirt pattern you can take the collar from, right?

You could probably even start with a knit dress if it was shaped right above the waist. It seems like it would be easy to do the bottom hem.

I'll have to dig out the pattern and see if I have any notes with it about what exactly I did.

Did you see Kathy in NM's cute Kwik Sew 2594 with those seams you're wanting? Here's the review from last week. I think adding the polo placket to this wouldn't be too bad.
