Date: 5/2/09 3:24 PM There is a thread about sewing machine feet but not one for sergers.
My Singer 14T967DC Quantumlock came with 6 optional feet. They are bead/sequin, elastic, cording, taping, blind hem/lace and shirring feet. I have NO idea how to use them. They did come with instructions but they aren't great. Are there any online resources for learning to work with these feet? Do you have any tips or tricks for using these feet?

Reply to JuneHawk Date: 5/2/09 11:40 PM I know you asked for online resources, but I have the book called Serger Secrets, and it's got instructions and pictures on how to use the specialty feet. I fould it very helpful to see pictures of what they were talking about! Guess I'm a visual learner...
It's an older book, so you might find it cheap on Ebay, or maybe even at the library.

Date: 5/16/09 12:05 PM If your dealer / place of purchase offers user lessons for your machine, be sure and take that lesson... keep your samples in a note book.
The Palmer-Pletsch videos are another good resource for how to use your serger... check out what might be available both books and videos at your public library (interlibrary loan if need be) before plunking down $ if you want to involve a little less risk on which to choose.
Hang in there... sometimes what it takes for me is a project with a big need.... to motivate the learning curve hike up hill on something new to me!
My wonderful SM store just did a refresher course for me and my serger - did the first one when I bought it 12 yrs ago... forgot huge parts of it, and I wasn't using the machine for more than a fraction of what it was capable of. The refresher got me on the right track again. Excellent treatment for customers there... I had expected to pay for the service, but that was refused... ------ ... cleverly disguised as a responsible adult! Next page>> |

Date: 10/14/09 11:02 AM Nancy Zieman has her Serge with Confidence videos on her site http://www.sewingwithnancy.tv/ unter Techniques. She uses Baby Lock, but the "idea" is basically the same across sergers. I have a BL Imagine, but my friend has an Elna and was able to understand the teachings perfectly.
Also, BL puts out a workbook for their machines that would be helpful. You could check Ebay or your local BL dealer.
Good luck! Next page>> |
