I'm really excited about Simplicity 2580 as a top. I seem to have a whole stack of thin knits, too thin to really use without lining. But, this dress has a doubled upper front bodice to create the cowl/V-neck. I made it up in one of my fairly sheer knits and am very pleased that the front is perfectly modest although there is a little bra strap show through on the back.

Personally, I don't care about back bra straps - I'm a girl - I wear a bra - DUH! But, front bra lines tend to make guys think about boobs, not about the conversation. The neckline seems a little plunging, but it really isn't.

That is an adorable top. As far as show-through, guess this is why women used to wear full slips.

oh hooray! I don't sew many Big 4 patterns these days, but I just had my mom pick this one up for me in the sales as I really wanted to do the cowl view! thanks.

get some neutral (similar color to whatever your skin tone is) tricot and cut out a scoop neck top to sew to the front of the top. Or, make a couple of scoop neck camis. Love the print and I can only see through the area by your waist and jeans.

Real cute and good with jeans or under a jacket for dressier!
It saves that extra layer of a cami in hot weather too.

Where do you get your stash of thin knits?
It's hard finding grown-up prints here or ones that
aren't super-loud!

Several came from G Street in DC, moved here from there a year ago. The rest were those odd pieces that everyone else said, "that's too thin for a top" and left to the clearance table! And, being a hoarder of all fabrics, I brought them home because I like the color, print, price.... PR ladies understand!
