Through a stroke of luck I got an amazing deal on CL for an Arrow 98401 dual cabinet. Well, I was smitten with it until I actually sewed on it. The whole cabinet shakes, especially the platform. I called the company and they said to tighten the screws and use a typewriter pad. I checked the screws they are tight, and I went to Office Max and they do not carry typewriter pads any more.

Is anyone else having this problem? My machine is a Kenmore 19606 and my custom insert has not arrived (I just ordered it today).

I didn't have this problem with a cabinet, but on my dining room table. Try putting some shelf liner (I use Contacts - Grip Prints...it's kind of spongy for lack of a better word) under your machine. You can find it at your grocery or local drug store. That stopped the bouncing for me.

A typewriter pad? You must have gotten hold of great-grandfather Arrow.

The companies that made those pads cut them up and sold them as mouse pads.

There are soft mats for standing that may help.

I would not go full speed with the SM until I was sure the machine was stable setting atop any mat.

Padded plastic placemats work great under machines too!
I have a couple of old Christmas ones under mine. I pick up cheap ones at places like Kohl's during various Holiday sales for $1, also use them on wire closet shelves in my sewing room.

Is your cabinet on a wood/tile floor?
Another thing to try is putting those rubber furniture feet under the wheels.

Check to see that the cabinet is sitting level on the floor. Can you jiggle the cabinet with your hands?

Any kind of thin, dense foam mat placed under the machine will help. I have this problem with my sewing table.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your Arrow cabinet and hope you get it resolved. I was recently in the market for a new sewing cabinet for my Kenmore 19606 and Janome serger. The Arrow dual cabinet was the model I was most interested in, but decided to invest a little more money and buy a Roberts cabinet since I already owned one of their serger caddies. I'm tired of all my sewing machines sitting out in the open all the time and am looking forward to being able to close them up in their respective cabinets when not in use.

Thank you for these great suggestions! I am going to get dh to double check all the bolts. Then I am going out to find some of that special shelf liner. ROFL laughing about grandfather Arrow. It had not occurred to me that the whole thing may not be level!!! It's on carpet. I will report back!
