Is there a way to change this pattern to a DDD cup? It's not easy finding this size locally and when I do find some they are EXPENSIVE!!! I've kind of tried making a couple of quick ones to see if they'll fit. I don't want to spend a ton of money until I can get a better fit... Any tips for changing the cup size?

I'd even b interested in other patterns if they'll give me a better it.

I know you're not even remotely plus sized but I suggest you take a look at the thread on bra making in the Plus Size forum. These ladies have found several pattern lines with big cup sizes and I'm pretty sure some of pattern lines, particularly the European ones, also have small band/big cup sizes.

Check out Needlenook Fabrics in Witchita, KS. They have a website, can't find it now. Anne St. Claire, the owner, has a fabulous bra pattern and can usually get you the size needed with a phone consultation. She also sells all the needed bra things, incidentally. I took a workshop from her and now wear only custom (not home-made) bras, and I wear a 38 H or I, according to bloat factor. the pattern is great, the instructions are marvy, and Anne is a stitch!

Thanks Girls!!! I'll take a look at the other forum, and take a look at Needlenook. Do you think Hancock will take the kwiksew pattern back? It's really useless to me.

From what I understand bra sizing, cup size stays the same if you decrease band size AND increase cup size (and vice versa, if band size increases AND cup size decreases), so :

cup size 32DDD = 34DD = 36D

So you could possibly start with the 36D cup size from the KS pattern and adjust band length accordingly.

but what if your rib cage isn't that wide? That is where I am so frustrated right now. Larger cup size seems to always = wider wires. :/

By the time I get up the the cup size that fits it is so wide that the cups wrap around to my back and I end up with quite a bit of tissue in my armpits which beyond being unflattering is just plain uncomfortable.

I would love to know of a pattern designed for small band/large cups that keeps the girls well supported up front and center.

BraMakers also has the underwires in short, regular, long and extra-long so you should be able to find the right size for you.

There's lots of information on the site to help with choosing the right size pattern.

I'm at the point of having to make my own bras because I can't find a decent fit in stores at any price -- now I just have to find the time to get the fit I want in both regular bras and sport bras.
