Date: 7/3/09 6:10 PM When making the above, what is the best fabric,
A To be cool in very hot weather
B To drape well when wide legged
C Lightweight
I'd appreciate your thoughts ladies!
PS. These pants would most probably be elasticated -- Edited on 7/3/09 6:18 PM -- Next page>> |

Reply to Winifred Date: 7/3/09 7:35 PM I second linen, but a lightweight cotton (gauze, for example)may work as well. Or maybe a rayon woven. ------ Kim

Date: 7/4/09 7:58 AM Linen would be a great choice. Two layers of chiffon maybe? There was an article in an old Threads magazine (mid-90's I think) about this and I've been wanting to try it ever since but never got to it. Seersucker may be another option, for a more casual look. Next page>> |

Reply to CJ Tinkle Date: 7/4/09 1:35 PM I love handkerchief linen for Summer baggy pants. Cotton seersucker is another good choice. I also have a pair of baggy cotton batik that I live in when traveling in the tropics. ------ Susanne

Reply to Fine Fabrics Date: 7/4/09 4:59 PM Thankyou "Fine Fabrics" and all of you for your input. Some great ideas and I love the handkerchief line/batik suggestion. No-one has mentioned silk? Assuming I could afford that, any reason why not? Next page>> |

Reply to sewsally Date: 7/4/09 6:10 PM I was just going to suggest rayon challis or rayon batik. Maybe those by batik butik. They have a large selection of color and design. We're getting in some fun rayon crepes from Japan. A little dressier than the challis. -- Edited on 7/4/09 6:10 PM -- ------ Susanne
