Date: 7/18/09 11:33 AM I can't seem to make clickable links in posts to message boards without opening up a pattern review to edit and opening a window from there to add a clickable link. This results in editing a review I don't need to edit, and is a time consuming pain involving multiple windows. However, I can't figure out how to use the blue http:// key. When I try it all I get is an error message that I have to put in a url and a title. I have tried clicking it like the quote button before and after a url, and I have tried highlighting a url and then clicking the http button. Neither method works. What is the correct way to make the http button work? |

Reply to becca a Date: 7/18/09 1:05 PM Open the link you want to post and copy the address (click on the address to highlight it and then hold down Control and press C).
Go back to your post, or start a new one.
When you want to add the link, click on http:// at the top of the message box.
A new box will at the top open at the top left of the screen.
Hold down Control and press V to enter what you copied earlier.
Another box will open and here is where you give a title to the link or type in click here........... ------ "Trying to save the world before bedtime"---PowerPuff Girls |

I'm going to copy something from the FAQ section. I had to do this on my computer because I'm using IE7 or 8 and couldn't get that little box that pops up for your url. Try this and see if it doesn't fix your problem.
I am using Internet Explorer 7 and can't use any of the buttons on the post message screen on the Message Boards.
Answer: Message board functions use scripted windows for allowing you to quickly add code to your post. IE 7 has scripted windows disabled by default. To turn it on, please follow these steps :
Go to Tools >> Internet Options >> Security >> Custom Level. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list under Scripting and set Allow websites to prompt for information using scripted windows to ENABLED.
This fixed my problem. Hope this helps. ------ Sewing in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia

Reply to becca a Date: 7/19/09 7:24 AM I have this problem and it is a security thing. When it happens check the top of your screen - I get a message line that says pop-up windows are disabled (or words to that effect) it you click on it to enable it, then it will give you the pop-up window you need to put in the URL.

Reply to QuiltSewSewSue Date: 8/1/09 1:22 AM Thank you all. It was a security setting on my computer that was protecting me from the useful http insertion box. I now understand what to do to use this function. |
