How often does baby lock upgrade machines?

I have the baby lock ellageo (esg3), is it worth upgrading to the Ellegante 2 for $3999 to get the usb port and be done with the floppy disk and the other added features? I can probably get $1800 to $2000 for my machine with the pallete and v5 software never used. Thanks, Lauren

I have the Ellegante2 and it has been a great machine. I love the USB capability (I have my designs on an external hard drive and then move designs by category to USB) and the ease of use. It is very user friendly from threading to stitching. I haven't taken my classes yet and I have had the machine for almost two years. The edit screen is in color so that is also a plus. Sounds like your dealer is making you a decent deal to upgrade.

I think there is more to gain than just the additional USB features.

Have you done a side-by-side comparison?

Someone thinks the ESG 3 is worth more than what you are contemplating - See this ad and they are not including software.

Thank you for taking the time to help with my decision. What is the best venue for selling a used machine?

If you still own the Ellageo ESG3 like I do, technology has finally caught up. I found a Floppy to USB conversion drive for the Ellageo sewing and embroidery machine that not only converts the machine to USB, it also has a network port with an optiinal wifi adapter. The port allows you to hard wire your machine to your computer via your router or connect wirelessly to it with the optional wireless adapter. The drive is sold online by PLR Electronics and the drive you need is USB-EXXX. I just ordered one for mine. I would rather pay $275 for the drive plus installation costs to upgrade my machine to USB rather than spend $4000 to $6000 for a new one. I'm having it professionally installed by my local repair shop. I will let you know how well it works when I get my machine back from the shop.

FCSINAZ - I've been looking for you everywhere! I wanted to thank you for the great messages you left on my blog [makingrebeccalynne.com] regarding the Juki TL. You are a No Reply Blogger so I couldn't send you a message back...you really need to change that setting! It was funny to see your first comment on my Bernina posting and then your second comment on my Juki TL review. It is even more poignant because I just posted this http://www.makingrebeccalynne.com/2013/06/enjoying-affair.html a few days ago. I bought the Juki TL and a Juki HZL-F600 for *fancy purposes* both of which cost less than 1/2 the price of the Bernina I was looking at and I am SO THRILLED! Glad you are loving your Juki as well... Keep in touch!

I am following this conversation because I, too, have the Ellageo 3. fcinaz, your suggestion about getting our machines into the "wireless" world is fabulous! I am going to look into it too. I think this machine is so fabulous so I can't quite talk myself into doing an upgrade to a different and much more expensive machine.

I have the opportunity to purchase a ESG3 that had belonged to a woman who died in her sleep. Like most of us, she had several machines and a husband has no idea what goes with which, etc. Am wondering if anyone can tell me an approx. cost for updating and how well the upgrade works. My friend has a HG-V and she has spent close to $750 in software upgrades. Thank you
