Date: 8/6/09 6:48 AM I made 8/2009 pattern 127 a pant, no cuff used. I have cut BWOF 8/2009 pattern 119. Both patterns appear to be bigger than the measurements given. The pants were quite big and the jacket appears it is going to be. I did 17's and need not have put on seam allowances.
I would love to hear what experiences people have had with this size range of BWOF.

Reply to Susan W Date: 8/6/09 10:08 AM Hi Susan! I'm 5' too but I'm a 38/19 in size. I haven't got my August issue yet so I can't really advise you on this but did you pick the size 17 based on your hip measurements?
Mine are 94 cm/37" which is why the 19 fits me. If you are slimmer than the size 17, you might have to grade down but have you considered that it's the pant style?
The only differences btw regular Burda (34 to 46) and Petite (17 to 21) are the lengths ie the vertical distances btw :
- shoulder and bustline
- back neck to back waist
- waistline to hip
- hip to knee
- knee to floor
If you go on the Burda website, you can find Workshops, under Service, but look around. You will find both how to How to Shorten a Regular Pattern AND how to grade down a pattern.
Good luck! Let us know what happened. Maybe post photos?

Date: 8/6/09 5:59 PM It is so good to hear from another 5 footer. Thank you so much for the information, you confirmed what I had guessed. I choose the 17 because it was the nearest to my 31" hip for the pant.
I think too, it may be a question of how much ease BURDA uses in the garment. On the 119 size 17, I did a tissue fitting and of course the sleeves are too long, but I found I needed to only add 1/8" for seam allowances and sew 5/8" seams. This seems at fist glance to be the way to go.
Thank you again,

Reply to Susan W Date: 8/7/09 12:31 PM I am petite up top and usually take a 1/4" horizontal tuck between shoulder and bust (front and back). I wear a 34 with the adjustment or a 17 with no adjustment and both fit well with not a lot of ease.
I have no experience with their petite pants as I gotta big muscular butt. :) ------ dawn

Reply to Susan W Date: 8/7/09 3:30 PM Susan, it was my pleasure! I've started to add all the Petite members I can find to my "Favorite Reviews" list.
I recommend using the size chart in the magazine and taking a full set of those measures. Made a world of difference for me!
