I have been drooling over the new Bernina Fashionista with the My Label gift I saw on BerninaUSA.com . I already own a Bernina 630E, but I thought a second machine would be nice to have so I wouln't have to disassemble the embrodery unit everytime I wanted to sew a garment. Anyway I ordered the fashionista yesterday (bad me, thank goodness I don't have a husband lol!!!) My question is does anyone own this machine or have the My Label software? The dealer told me she would take my measurements (all 40 of them) so I can enter them into the program before I get started. I'm so excited, I'm not a computer wizzard so I'm really hoping the software isnt too complicated.

The Fashionista was previously known as the Aurora 435 75th Anniversary Edition and the the "Anniversary" was dropped and it was changed to the Aurora 450. There are some reviews on this model.

Congratulations on your new sewing addition!

A few people have posted reviews of the clothes they've made using this software. You can read one of the more recent ones here to see what you think.

Great machine. Own the 450 & 440 both, and we use the 450 most. Great embroidery, sewing whatever. I highly recommend this machine, and my MIL is so impressed, that is on her list for her next machine! You will enjoy. Just purchase the straight stitch plate which works well for straight stitch sewing. I am personally lusting over the 630, but waiting, waiting, waiting........

I stopped by the local dealer yesterday and got 4 prices, starting around $4,000 and going up from there for the Bernina 450 Aurora (with various options: standalone, with embroider, with BSR, with embroidery and BSR).

This seemed high compared to the prices I read in some of the reviews.

Any suggestions on how to get them to come down a little bit? (I'd like to support the local dealer, but not at the risk of paying twice what others are paying.)

Sometimes the price in a review is lower because the person gets credit for a machine that they are trading in.

That's a very (very) high price for the 450. I'm always so annoyed at the games dealers play. While I'm a longterm Bernina owner and fan, Bernina dealers are certainly no exception to this game. For my last Bernina, I found a great price at the Puyallup Sewing Expo, called my local dealer from the Expo and asked her to match it, and she did.

Do some homework so you can have the information you need to talk with your local dealer. See if there are any expos coming up in your area. Call Bernina dealers around your state both near and far from where you live. Ask for their best prices. If they won't quote over the phone, tell them they'll need to quote if they want your business. Then go back and offer your local dealer the best price you found. Tell your dealer (very nicely) you've been shopping around, would like to support her/him, but want to pay a fair price and will go elsewhere if need be.

I've always been amazed at how much play there is in the prices of sewing machines. Even salespeople in the same dealership have quoted me widely different prices for the same machine. After observing this game for so long, I simply feel that if they play with us, we can play with them too. Good luck!
