Date: 9/4/09 5:59 PM I have been thinking about what type of class I would like to take online and one I would definitely like to participate in is a bra-making class. I don't know if there are others that are interested but I've heard that they aren't that hard to make but I feel intimidated to try. Any other suggestions for online classes? I hope this is the right place to post this topic. Next page>> |

Reply to PattyG Date: 9/4/09 6:36 PM I want a "How to Sew Your Own Jeans" class! I did not do the jean sew along but by reading some it, there are definitely people that are very talented! I wish they would share and get paid and or a book or DVD! ------ mhk3boys Next page>> |

Reply to PattyG Date: 9/4/09 8:25 PM I think the idea of a bra class is a great one. We would need a very good teacher though who could analyse photos and help us perfect the fit.

Date: 9/7/09 10:10 PM I agree with both the bra and jeans ideas.
I looked at the jeans sew-along. There was a bunch of great information out there.
I have also wanted to know how to sew a bra, but didn't know where to start. Next page>> |

Reply to MachelleH Date: 9/7/09 10:29 PM The plus size board has a great thread on sewing bras with tons of good info: bra thread. There are others in the forums too but I know that one has good stuff.

Date: 9/15/09 0:11 AM I would love to see an "understanding silks" class in the same vein as Sarah V teaches. I would also be interested in a bra class. As much as I have read the message threads and explored online options I am still intimidated to get started. ------ re-living my youth through sewing Next page>> |

Date: 10/14/09 9:38 PM After reading some of the threads here I think we need a BASIC pattern Drafting class. Pattern Making, the class we now have, is not a pattern drafting class, and it is not for beginners, or even people who have never thought about drafting, although it is a great class and i liked it very much.
We need something that will result in a simple basic pattern set done from our measurements. Just simple bodice and skirt perhaps, not pants unless the instructor would want to make that long a class...not as intense as a fitting class, but one that gives us the tools for making a simple basic pattern for ourselves. I have done this a couple of times, and I see so many people who are so dependent on patterns for everything, and who seem to want to learn drafting basics.

Date: 10/15/09 12:26 PM I have a suggestion for a class; I would love a class on how to sew with fabric panels. I think it could be really fun and interesting 'cause sewing with panels present particular challenges in terms of fabric placement, matching seams, grainline (straight vs bias), design of the back vs the front (does it have to be symetrical?), etc. I would like to know how to adapt a pattern for a panel (what to do with the hem?), know if there are specific patterns designed for panels. I'm sure all the great teachers here on PR could come up with wonderful ideas on sewing with panels. I love the geometry of panels but the ones I bought tend to stay in my stash 'cause sometimes I feel a bit insecure on how to use them at their best.
Anyone else that would be interested? ------ Littlejazzbird

Date: 10/15/09 1:30 PM I'd like to be able to take the tassel making class that Kenneth King taught at the Novi Expo (but I couldn't attend).
