Date: 9/14/09 8:19 AM I have had such a hard time getting back into my sewing (room) nook and actually get a garment finished after having a busy summer filled with other activities. I know if I somehow make myself spend every day just a little bit of time sewing (or cutting, fitting, etc.) there would be some progress and I probably will not be able to stop (knowing myself well).
Anybody want to join me? (unless there is already a thread like this - in that case, please point me to it) I would want to check in at least once a week and report how it went. ------ Natalija from Serbia (mom to 6 daughters and 1 son) Next page>> |

Reply to TalyQ Date: 9/14/09 8:23 AM OH, I do like this idea! I would love to join in. So then, we set out to sew at least 30 minutes per day? And this would include things like fitting the pattern and cutting out the fabric? All the little necessary things?
I was just thinking that I would like to sew today but I have so many other obligations that I must take care of today. Still, I believe I could sew for 30 minutes. I could steal 30 minutes of time and dedicate it to sewing today.

Date: 9/14/09 8:25 AM I too would like to join in; otherwise there is just too much distracting me from actually just getting down to it... ------ Imaan in Sydney, NSW.

Reply to TalyQ Date: 9/14/09 9:08 AM Great idea - I'm in!!! Way back when I was in high school, by the time we got our projects out, etc., we probably sewed for about 30 minutes. Amazing how much we got done!!! I've thought of doing this before but never have.
Today I'll spend my 30 minutes doing buttonholes and buttons on a blouse I made a couple of weeks ago. ------ www.thereisjoyadventures.blogspot.com Next page>> |

Date: 9/14/09 10:56 AM This is a very good suggestion. Sadly I have to begin tomorrow because the past week or so I have been re-organizing my sewing room and the work table still has some stuff to be put away.
My 30 min of sewing time per day will be devoted to fabric prep, pattern prep, layout/cutting, and actual sewing/fitting, but will not include computer or planning time. The exception is if there is a technique that I need assistance with and then the computer time seeking tutorials will be considered the same as checking sewing books.
I'm thinking it will be a good plan to report back here just as a way to keep myself focused so maybe once or twice a week. ------ "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." Anais Nin

Date: 9/14/09 11:04 AM This is a great idea for ladies like me that keep talking about sewing but don't make the time for it. My daughter wants new pj pants so I'll start with those. Next page>> |

Date: 9/14/09 11:26 AM Great idea, one I've been wanting to try for awhile. Since I am a busy homeschooling mom I don't have hours at a time.. on the other hand I have problems with having to put everything away and pull it back out when I am ready to sew again! Maybe I can try though and get some organization done at the same time!
Edited to add: I don't mean to say that no one else is busy!!! -- Edited on 9/14/09 11:27 AM -- Next page>> |

Reply to TalyQ Date: 9/14/09 11:31 AM I was hoping this was a "cut back" to 30 minutes a day sewing.
