Wondering if there is a great difference between these two Featherweight models. I have a 221. I ordered an owner's manual and an Adjuster's manual, got them now, and the manuals are for a 221-1. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between these two models? Should I try again and get the correct manuals?

As best I can tell, there is no difference but I reserve the right to be wrong since I don't own a Featherweight.

Check the Singer Manuals page and you can download the (free) owners manuals, and compare.

The Vintage Singers Yahoo Group has the Service Manual in their Files for free, but you have to join the group first.

I've got 3 of the little cuties. The only one with a different manual is the 222. That one has a free arm so it's a little different in the mechanics but not in size. However, over the years I have seen the covers of the manuals look different- the information remains relatively unchanged. It's a staight stitch machine.......

I'm thinking maybe your manual is a little newer. The vintage Singer group on Yahoo is a big help but I also like the book titled: "Featherweight 221-The Perfect Portable" by Nancy Johnson-Srebro. It is a great reference to the care and feeding of the featherweight

221 and 221-1 are exactly the same.
