What sewing machine would you buy? What is it that you are really lusting after??? And why? What kind of sewing do you do? How long have you been sewing?

Hmmm, I don't know a make/model specifically because I don't torture myself with things out of my reach, but I've always thought an embroidery machine would be cool. And my Viking Platinum has treated me well so I would probably see what it has to offer by way of embroidery.

For now though I just do garment sewing, the occasional curtain or something. I guess it's been 3 years of sewing now, plus playing around when I was a child.

My husband actually wants to try quilting. I want to get a serger so maybe I will let him use the Platinum for that when I am serging garments. I've also thought about repairing my poor old White, but it's not really worth any $$, so that might not be a good idea.

One of the kids fathers from my son's soccer team offered me a White I believe it was from 1927, it is all cast iron and had more feet then my brother ce4000! I just didn't know how to use it and I didn't want to struggle so I declind it.

I don't know enough yet to have any dreams of what machine I would want...

if money were no object..... i'd be outfitting my studio is for sure.

First i'd get an embellisher, then I'd get get a fancy serger, a second machine, and maybe a new embroidery machine.

I am very happy with my Bernina Aurora 430.

If money were no object, I'd have my favorite local table maker construct a fabulous rustic quilting table from reclaimed pine, with a custom insert and a big drop leaf.

Next, a long arm quilting machine and a custom frame, also made of beautiful old wood:)

And last...well, I'm embroidery and serger curious, so one each of those...

I'd build or buy a dream house for a quilter/dressmaker with a huge studio that can hold several sewing machines, a long arm machine or two, big pressing and cutting tables, fitting room, with nice view, and a separate room for storing all kinds of vintage machines.

From the Viking website

Quote:
There is no threading, no tension, and no bobbin, just five special needles that felt layers of fabric together by meshing the fibers, fabrics, yarns, and more with the up and down movement of the needles. This machine can also be used to create fraying and worn effects, on jeans and other denim fabrics. Move the fabric under the needles to felt your original design with textures and fibers. Personalize your garments, gifts, and crafts. It’s easy to place roving, fabric, scraps, fibers, threads, yarn, trim or any fiber or textile under the needles to achieve stunning one-of-a-kind effects. Use the HUSQVARNA VIKING® ER10™ embellishing machine for all kinds of projects; garments, quilts, cushions, throws, wall hangings, kids stuff, scrapbooks and more. Set your creativity free!

I want one for fibre art, maybe after xmas. :)
