My friend is thinking of making a Dorothy costume for Halloween and clued me in to this. I really am not sure how I feel about this.

Simplicity has some traditional Wizard of Oz movie costume inspired patterns. And then they have this .

2546.

Okay. Lots of women like to rock the sexy Halloween version. Now check out the Plus sized Version 2547.

Words fail me. I swear those are the exact same models. They have just been... inflated. The heads, hands, and arms are the same size. Some of the legs have increased in size. There is a little change in hair styles. But those are the same thin models photoshopped to look, bigger?

Did they think we wouldn't notice? How do you ladies feel about this?

It's not only weird but insulting. I suppose I understand the budget constraints but jeez. I suppose we should be pleased that they used different models for 2548

Simplicity's thoughtful way of saying:

Happy HO-lloween!

I think it's great that there's something for everyone. And if it keeps a few dollars going to local companies rather than going for those junky overseas cheapie costumes - all the better!

I thought it was kinda funny. I wonder how the models feel about the photoshop job I do, however, really like that they've come out with ho costumes for bigger girls. Big girls like to ho it up, too! I also think they would make some great gothic lolita dresses, in the right fabrics.

Do you really think they're THAT bad???? I've seen a lot worse. I don't think it's a bad thing to cut loose a little on Halloween.

I think those models are darn cute.

I don't know what is up with those human models, it's just strange. Their heads seem so small.

Oh well. I think Simplicity has some of the best plus sized patterns I have seen in years. The Khaliah Ali patterns jump to mind. I have been very impressed with those.

Personally, I like to tart it up a bit for Halloween, and I'm really glad that Simplicity is giving plus-sized women that option instead of assuming they want to hide themselves in sheets of fabric. I can't tell about all the models, but the Scarecrows definitely look different... one has much fuller lips than the other.
