Date: 10/13/09 6:12 PM Hello all,
I will be managing this contest, my very first, so please be patient with me! I am a bit nervous...
I am putting up the rules and eligibility information for those interested. I live in Australia, so will likely be in bed when most of you are online, so please be patient with replies to questions. I shall be checking for questions at least once a day, and if unable to do so, will let you know.
Good luck to those who will be entering!

One Fabric - Wool Rules
The fabric used in your project must be wool. No blends or other types of fibers will be permitted for this contest. Any style of fabric (knit/woven) is fine as long as it is all wool.
- The item should be wearable and made from scratch. Home dec is not included, nor are reconstructed garments.
- Item must be made during the month of November. (Pattern can be one that you have used before.) Entries must be completed and reviewed by November 30, 11:59 PM Eastern Time (as posted on this website).
- Only one item per person can be entered in this contest. If making an entire ensemble from a pattern, the entire ensemble is considered one item. However, you may enter one piece such as a skirt or jacket.
- Basic trims and other fabric for lining may be used, but the fashion fabric for the garment itself must be entirely wool. (Is the fabric a structural element of the garment? Then it has to be all wool.)
Picture is required (for voting).
Prizes: There are two prizes in this contest, both by reader votes.
First Prize: $100 gift certificate from Nature's Fabrics
Second Prize: $75 gift certificate from Nature's Fabrics
*Rules that apply to all contests:
1. Contests begin on the 1st of the month, and all reviews must be entered for submission by midnight Eastern Time on the last day of the month.
2. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, Patterns may be drafted, tweaked, and muslined before the contest date, but fabric for the pieces entered may not be laid out or cut till the start date of the contest. Fabric may be pretreated before the contest date.
3. Items intended for sale, or for which you were or will be paid to make, do not qualify for any contest, but items made for charity are welcome!
4. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, all reviews written for a contest entry must include a picture of the entry.

Date: 10/13/09 7:48 PM Thank you so much for managing this contest. Don't be nervous, it's a lot of fun and people are mostly enthusiastic. I actually managed this contest last year; it's a great contest!
I'm looking forward to participating this time around, although I've not yet decided what to make! It's the perfect time of year for sewing with wool and there are so many choices... ------ A bad day in the sewing room is better than a good day at the office.

Date: 10/19/09 3:24 PM I'm very excited for this contest, and I've had a specific coat in mind for quite a while that I've been wanting to sew. I was planning on using velvet for the collar and wool everywhere else, but after reading the rules I am not sure if this is okay. Could you please let me know if I can or can't do this. Thanks! Reply to JanaL Date: 10/19/09 5:27 PM Hi JanaL, happy to see you considering this contest. I think however, that the collar has to be wool, since it is a structural part of the garment, as per the last rule above. You couldn't just use wool for the collar?
If you are still unsure, I can check with the contest commitee. Good luck! Next page>> |

Reply to Imaan Date: 10/19/09 5:36 PM Thanks for the response. I think I've got my heart set on using velvet for the collar of this project, but that isn't to say I couldn't dig through my stash and come up with another project. Hmmm...what to do. Can't wait to see what everyone else is making. Next page>> |
