Date: 10/16/09 4:31 PM My daughter is getting married October 2010 and has asked me to make her dress. We live in Bismarck, ND and she lives in Minneapolis, MN. Any suggestions on where to look for bridal fabric in the Minneapolis area? Thank you.

Date: 10/16/09 5:39 PM SR Harris might be your best bet. I've never been but I believe it's the largest fabric store in the MSP area. |

Date: 10/16/09 9:22 PM There are two places I would consider for such a special dress.
One is Treadle Yard Goods in St. Paul. The other is Ginny's Fine Fabrics, which is well south of the cities in Rochester. Both of these stores have beautiful fabrics with prices to match, but I think you will have good luck with them. Customer service is paramount.
SR Harris is northwest of Minneapolis a little bit. It is an overwhelming store when you are new (and not so new) because it's a warehouse filled with every fabric you can imagine. Your job is to find what you want before you turn 85. At least, that's how I feel sometimes. The truly nice thing about SR Harris is if you find what you want it will be at a great price. ------ Kris |

Date: 10/16/09 9:48 PM I second the Treadle Yard Goods suggestion-everything is beautiful and the staff know how to sew.
SR Harris is cheaper (unless you count the extras that leap into the cart), but it is enormous and the bolts have to be wrestled off the shelves. |

Date: 10/17/09 0:09 AM Everything is half price off retail everyday at S R Harris and they have specials each month (see web site for SRHarrisFabric.com where you can find some info on sorts of fabric, sales, location & time, etc.). They really have everything! Treadle is a very nice traditional fabric store. |

Date: 10/28/09 2:02 PM I bought silk for my wedding dress at Dell Fabrics on Excelsior at Miracle Mile in St. Louis Park.
It's not a huge store but they have beautiful fabrics.
