Squeak while walking

I have a pair of black Dansko clogs, but am about ready to throw them out the window. They make this squeaking/sticking to the floor noise when I walk. It's only on hard surfaces.

Is this normal? Can I do anything to make it stop? I've even tried to wash the bottom of them. There doesn't seem to be anything on the bottom, like I stepped in something.

Thanks,
Alathia

I wish I knew what caused shoe squeaking! I have a pair of red Born boots that I love, but the right heel squeaks and I have no idea why or how to fix it. I looked very closely at the sole but it looks no different than the non-squeaking left sole.

I feel your pain! I've got a pair of Dansko clogs and a pair of Rockports, and BOTH of them squeak!

I've ended up relegating them to the dog-walking duties, because I HATE the squeaking at work.

Wish I knew why this happens....

Some of you are dealing with a known phenomenon called The Dansko Squeak. Some posters say they have gotten rid of it by dumping baby powder into the toe of the squeaky shoe; some say the solution is rubbing the shoe down everywhere with lotions, etc.; and some say nothing works. If there's a steel shank in the shoes, I would guess there was some slippage in the inner construction due to poor workmanship (in several posts, there is some indication that the company may have switched over to Chinese production).

Personally, if the shoes are new, I'd return them--and not get more Danskos. If the shoes are older, it might still be worthwhile to contact Dansko and ask for help.

Nicegirl, Did you hear me squeaking my way through BWI Tuesday? It was horrible.

Elona, thank you for the link. I've had the shoes for a year. Nice idea about the baby powder, but mine sound like the sole is sticking to the floor. Guess I could dip the bottoms in baby powder. Imagine the mess!

Try calling Dansko: 1-800-326-7564
Maybe they'll have a suggestion or even replace them.

Weird I have several Sanita clogs (I know, a different brand but Sanita used to be distributed by Dansko) and I've never had this problem. (knocks wood) Is something loose (e.g.is the leather being pulled away) in your clog? I hope that you can get this solved...

I have the same problem!!! I thought it was just me. I think it is internal mine squeak no mater what surface I walk on, hard or carpet. If I shift how my weight sits (like walk on the outside edge of the shoe it stops but that isn't a long term solution.
