I bought a 797 on ebay and it looks clean and well maintained but then this is my first serger! My question is the manual says to set the stich length hold down the feed dog stop and turn the wheel. The problem is the wheel won't turm am I doing something wrong?

Do you have to "push in" the little wheel first..then turn? I had to do this with my very old Babylock but I didn't have to (hold the feed??). I have never used this Hobbylock model my Pfaff serger was very different.

unfortunatly it doesn't push in but if you take the screw out you can move it but then it doesn't push in again to set it. I checked the belt and it looks good so I am at a loss. Supposedly when I bought it, it was in excellent condition (of course!) Any one have one of these machines?

ok so the balance wheel is also the stitch length wheel, it won't move and when I press the foot pedal nothing moves just buzzes is it possible the motor isn't any good?
