Date: 11/7/09 11:50 PM hi
so i am down to this 2 sergers to choose from. the juki serger is from craigslist and is cheap..under $300. the janome serger, i also managed to find a used serger for the same price..price for the new janome serger is twice the price of the used one.
so...i am on the fence with this whole purchasing from craigslist. i've read the reviews here on both serger and both are excellent..i sew a lot of knit fabric and will be using the serger to also finish my woven fabric.
so it comes down to this 2, which would you prefer?
i've never own a serger before but i need something reliable since i dont have dealer support in my area.

Date: 11/8/09 8:35 PM I have the Juki MO-654DE. On the CD, the threading on the 644 is very similar to my Bernette 335.-Works but can be difficult on the 3 thread set up. |

Reply to Roxy2007 Date: 11/22/09 7:09 PM I have the Janome 634D. It is a workhorse. Sew and Vac direct has them for brand new $369 and a warranty. I bought mine from a seller off ebay last year for $399 and he gave me a 90 day warranty. I don't use it alot, but when I first got it, I made a quilt with it. I put it though it's paces. It handled the layers with no problem. I hear alot of good things about Juki also. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Sorry, wish I could help more. |

Date: 11/23/09 9:03 AM Amazon has the Juki 654DE for 399 with free shipping. It comes from SewVacDirect so I'm assuming it has a full warranty. If you can afford this one at all I'd go for it. I have it, and it is a wonderful, wonderful serger. (See my review on it. I like it better than the Babylock Evolve I had for years). It's part of the Pearl Line of Juki sergers, which are their best sergers, and an upgrade from the 644, which is part of the Garnet Line.
But good luck with whatever you get. All of these sergers have good cheering sections, I think. | Please LOGIN or Join PatternReview
