First off I am a quilter. I know I would use a serger more if it was easy and user friendly. It's why I ordered the 1150MDA. I like the sound and ease of this machine. I'm thinking if I need the coverstitch I will buy a cs only machine. What do you think? Is the 1100 as easy as the 1150? Converting to cs? I'm anxious to hear about this machine.
Thanks
Judi

Do you mean the 1300MDC (rather than the 1100)? This is the current Bernina serger that has coverstitch capability. Many on PR say that, where space isn't an issue, a separate coverstitch machine is a much more functional setup. Others say that converting from serger to coverstitch isn't really a problem for them. I find that having them as separate machines suits me best, as I often go back and forth between serger and coverstitch while sewing the same garment. Perhaps you could stop by your dealer and spend some time sewing on both the 1150MDA and the 1300MDC. Test the coverstitch and see how converting feels to you. Good luck with your choice!

I have a serger that doesn't have coverstitch and a coverpro 900c. I would not want to have to change machine when I'm making a garment because I sometimes do coverstitch and then need serger and back to coverstitch. I don't even like to change colors of bobbins when I'm sewing so I know I wouldn't want serger/coverstitch combined. However this is fine for some so it is your preference.

I ended up doing something I thought long & hard about. I ordered the Juki 735 5 thread and the Brother 2340cv. I really loved the 1150/734 Bernina-Juki, but thought I'd try the 735 for cs & also get a 734 for most of my sewing. Decided to do it this way first. First off, it's more economical. I'm saving $400. I can see how I will use it and maybe down the line something else will come up.
Thanks for all help.
