Date: 11/16/09 12:52 PM I bought an iPod Touch as a gift for DH. From reading the posts here about it, I'm really tempted to open it up now and use it for myself and get one on Black Friday for him.
What do I need to know as far as apps and accessories? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Date: 11/16/09 1:57 PM I'd make sure you have a good case for it, and also give some thought to whether the earbuds fit your ears well. I'm on my third iPod, and have never had a set of Apple earbuds that were small enough to fit in my ear comfortably. I have a set of Koss earbuds that are squishy and they are much more comfortable.
In regard to apps - my experience has been that there's a lot of crap out there, It's easy to get suckered into downloading a lot of stuff because it seems so inexpensive, but of course that all adds up.
There is a fabric yardage calculator you might be interested in. It converts between different widths as well as from metric to English measurements. I haven't needed it, but it's good to have for "just in case." |

Date: 11/16/09 3:46 PM A case (incase makes a nice hard one in nice colors, check BestBuy or similar)
A screen overlay/shield.
My favorite apps:
-Simplify Media 2 (lets you access all your music on your home hard drive w/out having to fill up your iTouch; wifi access required; there's a similar app for photos)
- Mover (for when you get your husband one -- quick and easy way to share photos, contacts, etc, etc. etc. between your devices!)
-Facebook
-NYTimes
and of course:
- Constitution for iPhone and iTouch

Date: 11/17/09 1:20 AM You might want to consider purchasing the second one after Apple puts the video camera in the 'Touch. Just a thought. Or... getting an iPhone which already has a video-cam. As you've no doubt heard, there are some 85,000 apps for the iPhone now and almost as many for the iPod Touch. As I recall, nearly half are free. Yes, a case is essential in case you drop it. I also recommend stand-alone compatible speakers--- shielded if possible.

Date: 11/19/09 12:16 PM I got a cable that allows me to connect my iPod touch to the big home stereo system. Also, I highly recommend a good case and screen protector.
as for apps, I enjoy the relaxation nature sounds, a dictionary, and bejeweled blitz. |
