Date: 11/16/09 9:32 PM hi there
i just bought the janome 1110dx serger and so far so good. i want to get extra needles for it and i remember the dealer said "regular sewing machine" needle. so i can just go purchase 11 - 14 schmetz universal needles?
i live in an area where i wont have dealer support or can get supplies locally, what should i stock up for my serger before i leave the city? i dont see anything in the manual about it needing to be oiled..do i need to oil a serger?
thanks |

Reply to Roxy2007 Date: 11/16/09 10:53 PM I would check your manual first. From allbrands listing they take this kind of needle. which is the organ needle Regular type needle HA or 15x1SP if you buy from a fabric store make sure its made for the serger. They are special needles. ------ ý1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Date: 11/17/09 12:09 PM Some sergers take ordinary sewing machine needles not the special serger needles. Check your manual!! |

Reply to Roxy2007 Date: 11/17/09 12:28 PM I used to own this machine and I do recall that it used regular schmetz sewing machine needles- sz 14. I sold it, so cannot check my manual to verify...
I believe it does need some type of oiling, but my dealer was absolutely no help on that. I was told things like, "oh, you will know when it needs oiling!!" Um, how would I know??
Did you purchase this from a dealer in the city? If so, maybe you can call them again for some clarification or even run back in the see them before you leave. ------ Raye Ann

Date: 11/17/09 10:06 PM i checked the manual, it says HA-1SP needles which are the organ needles, they are harder to find in my area than the schmetz needles which is why i asked if anyone used shmetz universal with them before.
i bought my machine from a dealer but they are a new janome dealer so they dont know "crock" about most of it. i got the machine from research, the dealer did nothing to help, except giving me a good deal..lol |

Reply to Roxy2007 Date: 11/17/09 10:34 PM I am not sure, but check the Kenmore Serger needles at Sears Sears.com . They have SP needles.
Also some of the online sewing machine sales places like SewVacDirect, Ken's, & others. ------ Janome serger 634D, Brother PC6000, Singer 500A & 328K, Bernina 600, White Rotary treadle, New Homestead A VS treadle | Please LOGIN or Join PatternReview
