Date: 11/17/09 9:16 AM I have the 900, but for some reason am lusting over the 1000 - possibly because I didn't know enough about them when I first ventured back into sewing, needed instant gratification and I didn't know enough to shop around. In my lucid moments and also thinking budget - can someone tell me whether I should just drop the thought of the 1000 and concentrate on getting the accessories for my CP900? Is there something magical about the difference between them or can I do anything with the 900 that I would need the 1000 to achieve.
I would sincerely appreciate you guys thoughts to help me out. |

Reply to missmarple Date: 11/17/09 9:54 AM I have the CP 1000 and I like the fact that I can use the narrow 2 needle CS to apply bindings and hem "dressier things" as I think the narrow CS looks less "sporty". I am also wanting to try and use the 3 needle CS as a decorative accent but haven't done so YET!
After playing with a CP 900 at work though, I like the slightly narrower CS it does even if it is limited to the one CS. In a perfect world--and larger sewing room--I would have BOTH! ------ Bernina 1630, Brother ULT 2002D, PE Design NEXT, BES Lettering, Janome CoverPro 1000, Babylock Eclipse SX, Juki MO654DE, Singer 15-91, Janome 1600PDB, Remington Japanese Clone |

Date: 11/18/09 9:12 AM I am looking at a used Cover Pro 1000CP and I am a new sewer w/a pricing of $499 attached to it... I need some advice and is the CPX something I would enjoy more? |

Reply to Patricia Lewis Date: 11/18/09 11:20 AM You can get a new one--even the new CPX for what you are thinking about paying for used. Unless this machine has a LOT of extras-feet, binders, attachments, table etc, you would be paying a "new" price for a used machine!
ETA: You would enjoy either but the CPX has the new STS system which you may appreciate having. See my review I just posted last night on the CPX. -- Edited on 11/18/09 11:22 AM -- ------ Bernina 1630, Brother ULT 2002D, PE Design NEXT, BES Lettering, Janome CoverPro 1000, Babylock Eclipse SX, Juki MO654DE, Singer 15-91, Janome 1600PDB, Remington Japanese Clone |

Reply to missmarple Date: 11/18/09 12:46 PM My vote is to drop the thought of the CP1000.
The CP1000 differs from the CP900 by an optional third needle space (between the two on the CP900), so it can do:
- a narrow width CS stitch (about half as wide as the CP900)
- a CS with an additional line of straight stitching down the middle, so there are three lines of stitching on the hem.
I have a CP1000 (the 900 was no longer available in my area) and I have never used the narrow hem or triple hem option. ------ Cheap fabrics, like cheap shoes, are a false economy.

Reply to Patricia Lewis Date: 11/18/09 2:20 PM I agree with Mrs Moss. This is the price of a new machine, even a bit high depending on who you buy it from ------ www.nancyksews.blogspot.com |

Reply to Nancy K Date: 11/22/09 0:06 AM After my daughter ( who is waiting for a liver transplant) expressed an interest in sewing again - she got the 900 and I bought the 1000 today for $499.00, so the decision was actually made for me.
Now to call Kevin again for a Center Guide Foot!! |

Reply to missmarple Date: 11/22/09 10:34 AM Congratulations, missmarple. Now make sure the person you speak to (and you should ask to speak directly to Kevin) understands you want the Center Guide Foot for the 1000 (the one for the 900 will not fit your new machine). ------ The essence of life is statistical improbability on a colossal scale.

Date: 11/22/09 3:05 PM Nancy - Spoke to Kevin last week when I ordered the extension table. I still had the packaging for the 900 Clear Foot that said for 2 needle type ($69.00), so I figured I needed a different one for the 1000.
Kevin was great and I have to put in a plug for Sharp Sewing. I ordered on Thursday and it was in my mailbox on Saturday. Excellent and fast service.
Thank you for all your help. |
