I can't believe it! I have a new BLCS - think I have at last mastered correct threading, - have now re-threaded 4 times. I can sew by turning the wheel towards me manually and it will make a good stitich. However when I try to use the foot pedal all I get is a high pitched whine and the machine doesn't do anything. What can I be doing wrong? I'm still a little uncertain of where to place the threads in relation to the foot on starting the first stitches but apart from that I have no idea. Do I have a dead machine? I'd be very grateful if anyone has the time to give advice. Like many of you no-one has them around here so this was a mail order purchase.... help from over the pond please.

OOOPS I think you have not disengaged the lever from the jet air threading! That's what will happen...quick read your manual...you need to move the lever over!

Thanks for that suggestion. I have moved it over I can see its moved back. Its definitely not in the lock position. Interestingly the button and wheel movement to make it lock takes a little while. What next.

Is the presser foot down?

You should let the threads "catch" as you turn the handwheel once. Then sweep something (like the allen wrench for the machine or a stylus) under the foot to bring all the threads out and to the back/left.

Fortified by dinner and english style blueberry muffins ready to try again.Ah Debbie, thank you for the suggestion. I am now going to re-thread yet once more and try again. I am wondering if the lock/unlock is faulty. I can see the switch is over where it should be but has the wheel unlocked itself. Can I try it without threads in to see if it works then?

Yes, you won't hurt it by running it without thread. I'd run some fabric through, just so the feed dogs are cushioned AND you can see whether it's feeding.

Push metal lever to the right so the threading tube disengages with a loud click.

It won't work if the tube is in the threading position. I am sure this is your problem.

When you start your cover stitch, start on fabric and be sure the presser foot is down.

As a side note, be sure the threads are clicked into the tension discs.

Thank you all so much. However have to confirm still no success. Have now tried with no threads as well, nothing but whine (from me too!)

Have checked and re-checked the locking device -have locked, then unlocked across to the right with a loud click - but still no feeding. I have not tried to alter the presser foot setting, should I try this?

Is it possible that something inside is not unlocking when the looper threader unlocks?

Just to add to this tale of woe, unthreaded if I turn the wheel towards me fabric will feed, try to use the foot control and just whine and no feeding. I'm finding this mysterious not to mention disappointing. Not a way to spend a Saturday evening is it... time zones!
