Subject: QUILT TREE - Help Me Please !!!! Date: 11/23/09 5:39 PM

Hi Quilters,
Today, I received an envelope with a return name and address I did not recognize. I opened the envelope to find a letter with 2 - 6" squares of purple print cotton fabric, each sq is different. The letter enclosed with the squares reads, THIS IS A QUILT TREE - no money is involved, just fun for everyone. I would like to participate, but my dilemma is, I do not have 4 quilting friends to send this to. The only group of sewing/quilting friends I know are the members here on PR. Would 4 of you be interested in continuing this Quilt Tree chain letter???? If you would like me to send you the letter with 2 - 6" sqs. please PM me with your name and address. The letter states that if the chain is not broken everyone will receive enough sqs. to make a quilt. It does not state the size. Even if turns out to be lap size it should be fun project. Please help me out.
Thanks so much,
Cheryl Barnebee

Could you go into more detail about what you're suppose to do with the two squares? Are they pieced squares or just one piece of fabric squares?

I would be interested, if the terms are more definable. Thank you.

Hi Donna,
Have you ever been sent a chain letter, same concept, but this is with quilting squares. Initially you will receive 2 - 6" squares. You keep the squares sent to you and you will receive many more as the chain grows longer.

This is the letter I received and the same letter you will receive. It reads:

PURPLE CHARM QUILT

This is a quilt tree - no money is involved, just fun for everyone!

1. Please send two 6 inch squares of fabric that contain purple to all the (3) persons on the list below. This fabric may be plain, print, check, striped or solid, but it must be a six-inch square and contain the color purple and be 100% cotton.

2. Remove the name of the person at the top of the list and put your name below mine(the person that sent you the letter). Then make four copies of this letter and send each along with two 6-inch squares of purple fabric to four of your friends.

If no one breaks the chain, you will receive enough squares to make a quilt. It will be fun to see where the squares come from and what they'll look like when you receive them all.

Try to do this as soon as possible within a week. If you cannot, please return the squares to the person who sent them to you so that the fun is not spoiled.

Many thanks. Enjoy the squares!!

Donna, this is the first time I have ever received something like this. It seems like a fun thing, so I thought, I would like to play along. Hope you will think so too.
Cheryl

Hi Amelian,
Thank you for your interest in the Quilt Tree. I wasn't able to
find any interested quilters and was given a short amount of time to do so. After a week of posting it on this site and no interest I had to return the letter and starter pieces to the quilter that sent them to me.
Thanks again, Cheryl
