Date: 11/23/09 9:29 PM Hello,
I am really desperate - after searching the internet for ages for a source to buy a Babylock BLCS in the US I am about to give up. Hubby flies to the US in a week and is supposed to bring back a shiny Babylock BLCS for me. Preferable bought through an online retailer so hubby doesn't have to go and buy it himself. Somehow google just gives me results everywhere else in the world but the US. Does anybody know of an online retailer who sells Babylocks BLCS? Or a local shop whick I could ring and ask if they would send the machine to NY?
Thank you so much, Stefanie Next page>> |

Just enter your address or the address of where your DH is visiting and that will give you the closest dealers within 50 miles. Babylock sells through dealer stores and they don't ship machines so he will have to walk into a store to purchase. ------ Janome10001, Babylock ESG3, Brother ULT 2001, White 634D serger, Pfaff 1472, Singer featherweight, Singer 14T957Dc, Next page>> |

Date: 11/23/09 10:59 PM Thank you so much for your help, it is very much appreciated! I will do exactly as you say! I am sorry that I bothered you, in Europe and Australia you can easily purchase online so I thought I could in the US, too.

Reply to Eowyn Date: 11/24/09 10:22 AM Although hubby will have to go to a shop and purchase the BLCS, yiou could call ahead and ensure they have one ready for him. There is only the one BLCS machine, so no worrying over him picking up the right machine. ------ I heart Babylock!

Reply to LynnRowe Date: 11/24/09 11:26 AM And I am thinking he may be able to get the floor model, the demo at a further reduced price.. which would also then make it a used item for customs.. and save you some more money.. Encourage him to speak up and ask about this..
For our USA members, might throw this thought in..In the UK they actually DELIVER the machine to your house.. now thats service.. Next page>> |

Date: 11/24/09 2:59 PM When foreign visitors buy s.th. expensive in the US (this machine would qualify), they might be able to get the sales tax back during customs when leaving the country. I don't know where you'd inquire about this in advance, but this could save you some money also.

Date: 11/24/09 4:59 PM How does electrical service affect foreign purchases? I know the plugs are different, but so are the voltages, right? The US is 110...what do they have in Europe, UK, Australia? ------ Meredith

Date: 11/25/09 6:21 AM Ladies,
I thank you so much for your efforts, you are the best!!! I really, really appreciate that you all took time for me and my proble!
I was able to contact a dealer on Long Island, and he will try to get the machine in in time. He quoted 925 Dollars inclusive tax.
LynnRowe, the floor model idea is a great one. I will ask the dealer about it, maybe he has one and we skip the ordering. purplebouquet , thank you for pointing the possility to get the tax back out- we will look into that but hubby says as far as he knows you can't get anything back. Which is a pity - should you ever buy things in Australia or Germany, don't forget to reclaim the tax/ gst.
Meredith P, voltage is indeed an issue, we have 240 V in Australia. I contacted Babylock for that and they told me that they sell coverters - how great is that!!!
sew2006 thank you to you, too, to tell me where to look for the dealers!!!
I can just say that people who sew and love fabric are just the nicest and finest people you could find!!!
Warmest wishes to you all from Sydney (literally, we had 42°C/108F on the weekend...),
