I know the multineedle felting attachment has been optional for Bernina machines for some time. Does anyone out there have one? It comes with the multineedle puncher and a sole plate with the hole for it. Thanks-

I have it, but must confess I've never used it.

Brother also has a needle punch attachment available for their mechanical striaght stitch Pro Quilter 1500. I would love the have this machine with the felting attachment.
I think I would prefer to use this type of attachment on a straight stitch only machine for some reason..having to do with the punching movement and lint associated with it. I might be afraid of using it on a computerized Bernina.
I understand that it can only be used on the Bernina's with the CB hook. Maybe it can be used on the mechanical 1008? I think that would be better than a computerized model using the needle punch.

I saw it demonstrated at the Minneapolis Sewing Expo and it is very cool. I remember it being expensive and you can easily get Janome felting machine online for $199. It would be less wear and tear on a Bernina....... Just some thoughts. Here is a link.

That's what I've heard, also.

I agree with RadarRadiance.
Much better to just buy a felting machine and avoid getting all that fluff into the inside of your bernina machine.

I choose to do just that - buy a separate felting machine - to me my Berninas are too costly and precious to allow all that fluff to get into them.

Hi,I would never use a felting attachment on any sewing machine.Needle felting creates a lot of lint.Every felting machine has a lint catcher built in under the needle plate.
You can see it on Youtube here.

Last year a brand new Janome FM 725 was on sale for $ 99.99,after I bought a used one for 100 dollars.

It's not just the amount of lint that's produced, also consider that has to be removed to use the felting attachment. In the case of the Brother PQ1500 the feed dogs also need to be removed and it's only a 2 needle attachment. As these machines have been out for a few years prices are much lower. I would compare cost of attachment to a felting machine. The felting machine also have extra insulation/ bariar around the motor not just the lint trap. Personally, I would go the machine route.
