Hello, just wondering if this class is geared towards all sewing levels. I'm a beginner but very interested.

Hi bevperu,

This would be a great class for a beginner to take. I think sewers of all levels will find plenty of good information in it. Please let me know if you have other questions, and I hope to see you in the class.

Hi, I've never taken a class before. But this is an area I really need help in.
I am not sure how the classes work. You mention there are 16 lessons. Can you tell me the schedule? How do you incorporate the chats and pdfs, and so on. I guess I want to know what to expect. Thanks!

Hi JP32,

Starting on the first day of class (February 8), I'll post one lesson a day for 16 days. The lessons are the PDF files, which you can open and read, save to your computer, and/or print out. Generally my lessons take about 1/2 hour to 3/4 hour to read -- maybe a bit more for the longer lessons.

The chats are at the posted times, and they are spaced throughout the class. Only people who have paid for the class can join the chat. Anyone can ask questions, and I'll answer -- it usually flows pretty well. (The chats are of course on-line and so we are "talking" by typing our comments.) The chat transcripts will be made available usually a day or two after it has taken place, so if you cannot join in a chat, you can read the transcript, and if you like, you can ask me questions about what was talked about in the chat.

The class board is available to you to post questions and read other classmates' questions at any time during the class, and for about one to two weeks after the chat. I try to answer my posts at least two or three times a day.

If you sign up for the video component, you can view the videos as frequently as you wish, but they are not download-able. However, you will have access to them for a period of one year -- and after that, I'm sure Deepika would make arrangements for you to view them again.

I think I've covered the basics. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I will say that the combination of lessons in PDF format, the chats, the class board, and the video component works well -- not the same as taking a class in person, but it does work very well.

Hi, Sarah....
I've been a PR member for a couple of months and I really love this site! I have a question concerning the lining class...you say that the classes consist of the "class board". Where do you find that on the PR site. I know there is tons of boards...would this board be labeled in some way so that I would know which board to go to?

I just registered for the lining class. The amount was $58.50. I wanted to get the $18.00 kit but there was no way I was able to change the amount in the total column. How do I order the kit? I don't want to take the class without it. There was no option to add the $18.00. Could you just add it to my credit card? Thank you...Paula

Hi pieraci2,

Once you register, you'll be sent a welcome email from Pattern Review, and that will give you all the information and links you need to access the class boards. I see from your second post that you have registered, so if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them.

Hi Paula,

I don't handle the registration, but I'll forward your post to Deepika and she'll help you -- it won't be a problem at all.

Hi Paula,

On the Sewing Classes Page, there is a link next to the linings class which says "Add Kit for $18".

Here's the direct link. By clicking on this link, the kit will be added to your shopping bag and when you checkout, it'll be added to your account.
