Active Wear Contest
January 1 through 31, 2010
Create some activewear for yourself or others! Activewear must be intended for an active situation.
Requirements:
All work on the garment(s) must be done in January 2010. (Pattern can be one previously used.) The review must include the following:
- Description of the garment
- The intended use of the garment
- Why the garment qualifies as active wear
- The fabric choice and why it is appropriate for the intended use
- What features (fabric, cut, design, features) differentiate this from garments for other functions
There must be something about the garment that differentiates it from everyday clothing or casual lounge wear. The contest manager will be asked to remove entries that do not seem to meet the contest criteria, so make certain you explain why your item does meet the requirements.
There will be one 1st place winner to this contest, determined by popular vote. There will also be one random drawing winner, from all finished qualified entries.
*Rules that apply to all contests:
1. All reviews must be entered for submission by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the last day of the contest. Contest dates will be listed for each contest.
2. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, patterns may be drafted, tweaked, and muslined before the contest date, but fabric for the pieces entered may not be laid out or cut till the start date of the contest. Fabric may be pretreated before the contest date.
3. Items intended for sale, or for which you were or will be paid to make, do not qualify for any contest, but items made for charity are welcome!
4. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, all reviews written for a contest entry must include a picture of the entry.
Contest Eligibility
1. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the start of a contest is eligible to enter.
2. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the end of a contest is eligible to vote in a contest.
3. Any member who's won 1st place in a contest on Pattern Review ended in the previous 4 months is ineligible to win another contest (for that 4 month period).

The following was added on 19 January 2009:
***How to enter ***
You can enter more than one item or outfit in the contest.
If you create an outfit/ensemble (e.g. top and bottom) from more than one pattern, please write a separate review for each pattern. Then you have the option of entering each item in the contest separately, or creating a "master review" and entering that in the contest.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with a master review, this is what is used in the Wardrobe Contest. It's one review which contains links to all the items which make up your ensemble. If you click on the hyperlink above, there's a detailed description of how to make a master review. When creating your master review, please choose Other for the pattern company, and type Active Wear Contest 2010 in the pattern name/number field.
If you need a hand, or would like to change over a review you've already entered in the contest, just post here or send me a PM and I'll do my best to help.

Date: 12/30/09 11:45 AM I am so excited for this contest! I need some tennis dresses in a BAD way but hate to pay 40-50$each on them when I can make them. When I read you were going to do this contest I decided I would bite the bullet and go for it. My biggest problem has been finding patterns and I do nothing without patterns!LOL I found two last night that are vintage but will work. I will have to upgrade the size but there is NOTHING out there for tennis dresses so I will take what I can get. Now I need to find fabric, another hurdle I have been struggling with. This contest is pushing me through those hurdles! Thanks so much for helping us push ourselves!

Date: 12/30/09 2:00 PM Shorts, a vintage tennis dress sounds great! Have fun with it. Maybe others will be able to help with suggestions for sourcing the fabric.
Jannw, walking is definitely active, and you have a specialty fabric for the garment/s. It sounds good to me. Next page>> |

Date: 12/31/09 0:10 AM I can't wait to get started on this! I got some tactel knit on sale at fabric.com, and now I have the perfect excuse to go ahead and buy a new pattern to go with it. I was going to wait 'til I'd finished some other projects first, but this seems like fate. Next page>> |
