I just saw a new Singer on HSN last night and it looks wonderful!!!! Does anyone know anything about this machine? 7 led lights, almost 9 inch harp, integrated dual feed, 9 mm stitch width, will hold cone thread.
It looks really cool!!! It doesn't have a drop in bobbin, so it kind of reminds me of my pfaff or am I nuts BL Quest?
Does anyone have this machine or seen it?????
Small video you can watch but it really doesn't have too much info. Today’s value of course.... is less than $800.
I normally don't want anything to do with Singers but I thought the Quantum line was made by Juki and this one looks different than the normal Quantum. Made in Taiwan.
Wonder who makes it?? Would love to see a review.......

I am re-editing this because the original link was the "todays special" and it has changed since posting. This is for the Singer L-500 and it was an introductory price of $799 for all the lucky people who got it. Price is now up $400......... it was one of those WOW deals a one day sale, only
I removed the first link since it no longer is applicable......I'm really excited to hear more about this machine! -- Edited on 1/20/10 7:31 PM -- |

Date: 1/19/10 11:25 AM Hmmm, physically it looks like a cross between a Juki and and Bernina. I prefer knobs for stitch length/width, but overall this looks like a nice machine.

Date: 1/19/10 11:39 AM I wish it had the knobs, too. I wonder if the decorative stitches have stitch limitations for length and width. It looks different than some of the other Singers. |

Date: 1/19/10 11:42 AM This does look interesting. I just looked at the stitch selection and they are pretty nice. I wonder how many, other than utility stitches can really be elongated as well as what stitches will be 9mm. The lightening looks great too. I love that built in walking foot. Without the alphabet there are 205 stitches which is still nice. Seems like a great value. |

HHmm...integrated dual feed, eh? Interesting to see if SVP puts it on the Pfaffs and Vikings too. ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 1/19/10 12:00 PM that does looknice but I am afraid to buy singer. they have a pfaff idt system on it!! Wow! Watching the video is making me dizzy! Do we need so many stitches?
I would also be worried about resale value, i know janome 6600 is coming out is coming out with a new version with a Free arm. The new Pfaff looks very similar to this also. -- Edited on 1/19/10 12:37 PM -- |

Date: 1/19/10 12:35 PM Quote: purplepeach I wonder how many, other than utility stitches can really be elongated as well as what stitches will be 9mm. The write up below says ''most'' of the 401 stitches ''can be set for maximum width of 9mm''. That would mean at least 201, if correct. In the video she rolls out a long fabric with all 401 stitches on it and says every one of them go up to 9mm width. Of course ''go up to'' may not mean all the way up to!
She does say they can each be altered by 1/10 of 1 mm which gives you at least 95 different ways (according to her) to ''manipulate'' each of the 401 stitches. But it is unclear to me what that means--is it just stitch position? That is not the impression they give, but I guess I am skeptical when something is unclear.
Nonetheless, it does look like an impressive machine and I hope this is a portent for the future of Singer. |

well its only 800 - you have 30 days to play, if you hate it - it goes back. I dont have a sewing machine right now since I just sold mine. I may just get it just to see. BUT it is is huge, just like the one I sold. :( |

Date: 1/19/10 1:14 PM I just bought it. I had the integrated dual feed (IDF) on my Pfaff that I sold when I was having financial problems. Have missed it ever since. I am so excited. I was going to buy the Janome 6500 and was waiting for them to come down in price. This machine has more functions than the 6500, plus the dual feed, plus more buttonholes, more stitches, more lights. Since I can make the flexible payments, get free shipping and send it back if I don't like it, I don't think I can lose. I'll try it out for the 30 days and send in a review. Wish me luck. Oh it also comes with every foot that I ever use.

Date: 1/19/10 1:17 PM It looks like a BabyLock Quest Plus with many similar features, with some of the buttons and the screen rearranged. I noticed the presser foot pressure knob has been moved to the top. While the BabyLock goes only to 8mm width and has a few less stitches, that seems to be the only difference. The Quest Plus is not made by BabyLock as it does not have the same warranty as true BabyLocks so maybe SVP or Janome has been making it for them?
I'm sure you can get the extra large table from a BabyLock dealer. From reading at the Singer site, it appears that this new Singer is only available on HSN. Singer also announced this special on their Facebook site today.
