Its a catalog for their latest fashions, shot in a fashion mag format, using dramatic lighting, effects and so on. You use it (in this case) to go the website and look up the stuff you like and order on line or go to a store and purchase in person.

There is some cool stuff, but I think we can probably sew better!

Ohh--it's a terrible catalog! that LB catalog is what spurred me back into sewing. I haven't seen it in years. I think that this is the same item, right: full of shapeless dresses, skirt, and pants in yucky fabric (you can tell from the catalog that the fabric is going to itch!) and most of the garments feature an elastic waist. I'm surprised that it's still around.

Note: the catalog is very different from the LB website and what is in the LB stores. I think that way-back-when, LB licensed their name to the publishers of the catalog, and the catalog publishers have gone to town with this. The garments in the LB stores (and website) are made from better fabric, come in a better variety of sizes (to fit customers that have a variety of shapes), and the garments do have a semblance of style at a decent price point.

I remember several years ago one of our local fashion writers at a local newspaper asked (on behalf of a reader) of where to shop for fashionable clothing if you don't fit in the standard size range offered in clothing stores and you can't spend mucho $$$$. Several readers recommended Lane Bryant and two people wrote to say IGNORE the print catalog that gets mailed because it was horrendous. I remember the reporter commenting that she was confused by that observation, but she felt like she had to pass it along, as two different readers shared this opinion.

The magolog and the catalog are two different things. The Magolog is what is currently the trends in the store and on the Lane Bryant site. The catolog is owned by a different company and has nothing to do with the stores.

I thought there were some pretty cute things in there, actually. Not all to my taste, but intriguing. I'm pondering the idea of the tunic length button-front shirts, which I'm seeing a lot for this spring, plus or otherwise.

I think Lane Bryant has great stuff, even though not all of it fits me.

I like some of it too, but I'm annoyed by all the leggings. And can people stop trying to make the carrot pant happen? Guh- it is not a good look on basically anyone.

I like some of the button downs, but must they all be "boyfriend shirts?" I don't need a closet full of shirts that drag below my crotch. And really, if it is a "boyfriend" shirt, why does it have ruffles? Did I miss the return of the dickie?

Um. yes. I think this is the year of the long, long shirts with ruffles and 'plastrons.' lol

1965 is the year I remember wearing those shirts the first time. Oh so stylish...but not the best look on an hourglass shaped 14 year old....
