Date: 3/18/10 11:25 AM I'm in the middle of a great debate and need some expert advice. I'm looking for a new quality sewing machine to compliment the industrial lockstitch and industrial serger I already have. I want to be able to make clothes and need a nice buttonhole and of course a zig-zag and a stretch stitch. I'm feeling very torn because I love the Berninas for what I could potentially do with them beyond garment construction (needle punch, BSR, etc.) but I'm not sure I have the time right now to invest in that -- so I want to know what all the buzz is about with the Juki F600. I just found out that the place that carries Berninas near me also services Jukis!
Are they a quality company? What are your pros and cons? |

I have heard nothing but rave reviews about the Juki F600.
I have contacted several stores that sell the Juki F600 but would like one from a reputable dealer seeing as I'm going to have to get it shipped to me. |

Date: 3/18/10 1:07 PM Well, I've already commented at voluminous length about my experiences with the F600, but I can say that five months in I'm still over the moon about it. I have a growing galloping herd of vintage machines (that I can't seem to stop collecting) but I can't tear myself away from the Juki to sew on any of them. Even on heavy weight fabrics (and light leather), the Juki does a better stitch than any of my other machines and it is tremendously easier to use. The knee lift is in a great position for me and I use it constantly.
I came to the Juki from a Bernina 160 (nineties model, computerized, had it for 9 years) and I have absolutely no regrets about selling the Bernina.
Still not crazy about the aesthetics of the Juki, and at times I do miss the absolute quality and precision of the Bernina presser feet, but overall the power, stitch quality, ease of use, lighting and features of the Juki more than make up for those two quibbles.
I purchased from Sewing Machine Shop and they have been great. ------

I'm placing calls right now to see about prices. Thanks for your help! I'm going to go and look up your other posts about the machine now.

Date: 3/18/10 3:56 PM Where are you located? I LOVE my Juki. (Yes, I was yelling.) It has handled extremely lightweight fabric as well as thick materials with ease. My buttonholer had issues so I had the machine replaced but since then, no problems. My Elna was a dream but I was limited by the power of the motor and limited stitches. It was hard to give it up because it never had problems but I'm satisfied. Hope you get one and let us know how you like it. ------

Date: 3/18/10 4:17 PM Ok, so after reading the message boards for a few days, doing lots of internet searching, and falling in love with this machine before ever being near it. . . finally, tomorrow I will get a chance to see it, touch it, and just maybe bring it home with me! That is if the price is right! Let me warn everyone, the price on this machine has gone through the roof! I tried every lead mentioned in the other post and not one of those dealers would offer the same price. Now, I'll admit, I'm timid. I do not know how to play the game as well as most. So, fingers crossed, I'll get some gumption tomorrow and be able to bring this machine home with me within the price range I'm comfortable with! And just in time to get Easter dresses done!

Date: 3/18/10 4:52 PM I've had my Juki since January. I joined PR simply to read the Juki posts and bought it unseen as many others also did. I am still blown away by the stitches and the even feed and the power and I use it almost every day. You won't be sorry if you buy it. Good luck! |

Date: 3/18/10 6:55 PM What prices are being quoted now for the F600? I bought mine exactly a month ago from SewVacDirect, and their price at the time was $899 including shipping. By the way, I love the machine, and continue to be amazed at how well it handles a wide variety of fabrics. ------

Date: 3/18/10 7:10 PM I live locally to Sewing Machines Plus. They are the biggest sewing store with the largest selection of brands in San Diego County. I've purchased a couple machines from them. Great customer service and I like that they are open 7 days a week. The first PR members to buy their F600s bought from SMP. HTH!
BTW, I'm also a happy Juki F600 owner.
