Date: 4/19/10 2:23 PM Just by accident I found a fabric website called Thunderlily Fabrics with some beautiful fabrics and decent prices and FREE samples. I recognized some of the fabrics from Trim Fabrics. I couldn't find where they are out of though. I'm just wondering if they are a parent company or something of Trim Fabrics? I couldn't find anything on PR about them either. |

Date: 5/5/10 4:54 PM I don't know if they're affiliated with Trim Fabrics, but I visited the site and recognised the layout instantly. The fabrics as well.
This is the first page of cotton batiste on Thunderlily, and this is the first page over at Belraf Fabrics.
Very similar I think.

Date: 5/5/10 5:02 PM My fabric swatches I just received from Thunderlily, on the envelope I think it said they came from Belraf Fabrics. That names sounds familiar. |

Date: 5/5/10 6:09 PM I think in the early days of ebay Trim Fabrics was known as yet another name. I had decent service from them...only one package was a no-show and unless I had emailed them, I don't think they would have caught. But, promptly sent out later.
I vaguely remember Trim being located in Brooklyn somewhere. |

Date: 5/14/10 12:32 PM Thank you all so much for the positive comments about ThunderLily. We want you to know that we really, really appreciate your business.
We felt it was appropriate to let you all know a little about our company and that we are NOT at all associated with Trim Fabrics.
ThunderLily.com is an evolving community of boutique fabric shops, dressmakers and people who like to create. When ordering from ThunderLily you will receive your fabrics directly from the fabric shop, hence one customer receiving their fabrics from Belraf Fabrics.
On each fabric detail page you can click on the seller name to read more about them, find their location etc.
Because we like to support our vendors and we are all working together to keep the fabric, sewing and design business very much alive and to ensure that people across America and around the world keep having access to unique and reasonable priced fabrics we often provide our fabric sellers with their own websites (where possible), which is why Belraffabrics.com products are also available on ThunderLily.
We very much believe in good customer service and promoting sewing and individual creativity, so please do let us know at info@thunderlily.com if you have any questions or concerns.
And thank you again! |

Date: 7/25/12 10:07 PM I'm terribly upset with Thunderlily. I am making a custom skirt for a gal and we found a gorgeous gold lace on Thunderlily.com. When the material arrived it was a chocolate brown lace. I wrong Thunderlily and their response was that they would basically do nothing about it because the fabric has already been cut . This doesn't seem appropriate to me. The wrong fabric was shipped. I dont care if they provide swatches... they are advertising a gold lace in the description and in the picture. My lace was brown. I paid nearly $14 for a yard and this is what I get. I hardly think I will return. |

Date: 4/5/13 12:40 PM I've made a few purchases from Thunderlily and have been happy with everything I've received. The lace for this dress came from there, and I have some gorgeous, HEAVY silk charmeuse I snagged there for $12/yard.
As long as you keep in mind that it's a collective of stores -- three vendors, I think -- you're less likely to run into surprises. Products come from three different places, so there's a shipping charge for each store, and each store ships at a different time. On the one hand, it can probably get confusing. On the other hand, if a fabric isn't what you expect, you have two avenues to get it fixed: the vendor who sold it, or Thunderlily.
Off the top of my head, I remember a couple tips ... 1) The products from Belraf are less expensive, and 2) The stuff from Diana Fabrics shipped insanely fast. ------ Humor, DIY escapades, pop culture, kitsch and creative miscellany from a bipolar bureaucrat with a sewing machine, a bottle of prozac, and an occasionally loose grip on reality -- http://sewciopathic.com ... plus, stuff for sale(!) at sewciopathic.etsy.com. |
