Looking for a Winnie the Pooh Pattern...

Being a newbie, I'm not totally sure where I should post this so feel free to relocate it!

I'm trying to find a pattern for a stuffed Winnie the Pooh. The only one I have come across so far is a 1960's vintage McCalls #8087. It's hard to find one for sale and the ones I have seen seemed pretty expensive ($20-$30).

I imagine this may be pretty hard to find because of copyrights, licensing, etc. But does anyone have any other suggestions? If push comes to shove, would it be overly difficult to go buy a stuffed Pooh, unstitch him and use that as the pattern? I'm brand new to sewing and so far all I have done is a jointed teddy bear and a lion. But I'm willing to give the dissassembling idea a shot if that's what it takes.

I know this all sounds kind of roundabout but the Pooh I want to make needs to be different colors and have a few other little modifications. I'm not going to be selling the bear, it's just a present for my mom in law.

Given the fact that WTP is copyright protected by the Disney company, I doubt you'll find a pattern. Your best bet would be to find a stuffed bear pattern and use the same color 'fur'.

Much as I dislike what Disney has done with those charming books, I have to admit that vintage pattern is very cute. The back of the envelope has a line drawing of the pattern pieces for each toy. Maybe you can use that as a jumping off place to drawing your own pattern.

Doris, yeah I'm afraid this will be all I find. I need for my Pooh to be white though.

Sana, I really do like the vintage ones too. But I grew up watching Welcome to Pooh Corner and reading the original sorties. Those designs are a bit more in line with my version of Pooh. I saved the photo of the back of the pattern with the line drawings, maybe I can try it that way. If push comes to shove, it might be worth it to just bite the bullet and buy that pattern. Then I can have copies made so I don't have to cut up the original.

I have a copy of the old McCall's Pooh pattern. I could make you a copy of it if you still need one.

Hi Jan,
I have only just joined & I am desperately seeking a copy of the old McCall's Pooh & friends pattern. I live in Australia & a member of the Country Women's Association. We have an exhibition coming up, where we have to submit items with a Pooh Bear Theme. Hoping you can help me, I would be very grateful
