Pfaff 1222
Compatable feet

I have a Pfaff 1222 (high shank) and would like to get a round (not oval) darning/quilting foot. Does anyone know if other brands are compatable with this model of Pfaff?
Would appreciate any advice.
Thanks Shazz

I would look on ebay for a foot for the Pfaff. I don't know if there are other brands that are compatible, and my Pfaff came with a darning/quilting/embroidery foot. Do you have one? What do you see as an advantage to a round foot?

Thanks for the reply Muffet. I am thinking that with a round foot no matter what direction you are quilting, the outside edge of the foot being 1/4 inch from needle would be a good guide to follow the previous row of stitching. I do it with my oval darning/quilting foot, but don't seem to get an even echo. (If that makes sense)
I had heard some other brands fit Pfaff 1222 but not sure which ones.

Bringing this topic up because now I am quilting! I would love an open toe free motion/darning/embroidery type foot for my Pfaff1222E, but I know the "Big Foot" isn't said to fit, and the 1222 is one of the old high shank machines. I have a few low shank feet but of course they aren't Pfaff feet and don't even begin to fit. Anyone out there quilting on a Pfaff from the old days and have another foot other than the darning etc. foot it came with? That is a nice foot, not too large, but open toe would be great.

I did email them actually, and they replied they had a high shank foot that "should" fit, and I replied that I would really appreciate them trying it on an old Pfaff, since they seem to be a main rebuilder of said items, and I never got a reply. I think I will call them as I hear so many good things about them!

Amy at Brubaker's sat down and tried their high shank foot on a 1200 line Pfaff and no go, so that's out.I may buy a high shank foot that is clear and try to bend it and chop it like Leah Day does on her site and see if I can do anything with it with tools.

I have the adapter that lets me use snap on feet. Would the adapter work for you if there is a snap on open toe foot available?

There are some Pfaff 1222 feet on ebay right now 6:32 central time and the auction ends in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Don't know if they have what you're looking for, but it is worth checking. Found it while checking for something for 1229.

No, the adapter won't help, it allows you to use snap on feet and a darning foot (free motion foot) is one you need to screw on the needle bar anyway. AND, I do have all the original feet, which includes the machine's own embroidery/darning foot, so that is the best there is available. Apparently no one has ever had another sort of foot for these purposes - people jsut use that one and since the machine does such a nice job with that one, I shouldn't complain. Perhaps I will get a high shank foot one of these days and whip out the old screwdriver and hammer and wrench and try to bend it to fit.
