This looks interesting to me. Do you have to have an embroidery machine?

Hi Mizvi,

You do need an embroidery machine... that allows you to import designs into the machine. : ) Jen

I'm a newbie embroiderer and I have a PE-150 w/ a 4in hoop. Is this suitable for this class? I do have PE-Basic so I can import designs.

Subject: Times for Class Date: 9/8/10 7:05 PM

I would like to know if I can take the classes at any time. I believe there are handouts, a class board, and I can go at my own pace. I have 5D Embroidery software (fairly recent release) and an embroidery machine. The 5D has a lot of beautiful button holes. I just don't know how to do the hooping and line it up. I am tall so I have at least 7 button holes.

Also, should I sew a blouse and have ready for the button holes? Or are they done first. I'm just not sure of this process. Thanks!

Hi RobbieK,

As long as you can get designs into your machine, you're good to go! Thanks so much, Jennifer

Hi Valerie Jo

That's a great question! The beauty of the Club classes is that the class message boards are open for a whole month! So you can read the lessons and work on the project (which will be a small purse) at your pace!

Also, I will be going over different ways to space buttonholes on the front of a blouse. If you've never embroidered buttonholes before, I would recommend practicing on a scrap first. (Whether or not you make a blouse is up to you... but you don't need it for class.... But if you do decide to make it, be sure to share with the class, so we can all be inspired!) Please let me know if you need more help, Thanks Jen.

Hi Jen,

Other than garment construction, is there anything else you can think of for which this techniques could be used?
Thanks,
Kathryn

Hi Kathryn, --you must have read my mind! The project for this class is a little purse that is closed up the front with buttons! (I think you'll be very excited!) I'll be posting the first lesson tomorrow, and I will also be posting the embellished buttonhole design too. After we practice buttonholes, we'll start working on the purse project next week! Happy Day, Jen

....I'm trying to think of time-saving things... like using a pretty fabric placemat so all the edges are finished!
